Protecting the Alpha

* CHAPTER 20 *

I was slowly reading the file that Miles gave to me. Lucid had lost his pack excluding his Beta and a few warriors with a enforcer. It didnt really say what or how he lost his pack. That was all unclear. What the File did specify was that he was now a dangerous rouge that the council was asked to deal with. " Miles who asked the council to go after Lucid?" Miles sighed " Dont kbow they wouldnt specify." I pushed back my hair out of my face. " It dosnt make any since." Miles looked over at me without any expression. "I have met Lucid before I came to Romania. We didnt speak but he was not one to back down. Plus I really dont think he would have turned rouge. Plus it says nothing as to why his pack left." There was a flicker of a smile on Miles face. " Your thinking outside the file." I snorted at Miles " Its common sense Miles." Miles sat back in his plane seat. I shut the file and closed my eyes. I must have fell asleep because the next thing I knew i was being woke up. I sat up and streached out. " Come on lets go check in our rooms then start our mission." we excited the private jet only for me to be hit with a huge wall of humidity. we made our way over to a Black car that was parked a ways off. We piled our things into the trunk and we were off again. As we drove I began to fall asleep again. With everything that has been going on at home I havnt really been sleeping. I was shook awake again only to see a huge white Plantation house. "Wow." I whispered the place was gorgeous. There was flowers all over the place. " Are you going to stand there or come with me." Miles was almost half way to wrap around porch. When we reached the inside i was speechless. It was just as gorgeous inside as outside if not more. I heard Miles sigh " Here Leah the key to your room. Take your things up meet back here in ten minutes." I nodded my head. " your room is on the second floor." I nodded and began heading to my room. Before I could reach the stairs miles grabed my arm. "We have to go. Miss do you mind having someone take our bags up to our room." The lady behind the desk just nodded. when we reached the car he let me go. "Hurry up get in. Lucid just attacked a pack." Miles face was cold and emotionless. More so than usual it was unnerving. As we drove a tension filled silence settled over us. As we began to enter the packs territory I frowned. This was one of the packs my father took over. I looked over to Miles then back out the window. yep this for sure the moon waters pack. The Old alpha of the pack was standing outside of the pack home. " Miles this pack..." I trialed off as i seen the hard look on his face. " Yes I know." I faced forward as he pulled to a stop. Miles and I exited the car and made our way to the small crowed of people. I heard hushed whispers start up. "Isnt she...." I heard some women begin to say while anther shook her head. " No she cant be..." I quickened my step so I wouldnt have to hear their nonsense. As we reached the front of the crowed Miles stopped. "Thank you for coming I wasnt sure if the....Alpha would send someone." The man in front of us choked on the word Alpha. " He had notified the Council and they decided to send us." Miles voice was as cold as ice. " The man in front of us shifted around. He was clearly not comfortable around Miles. I stepped to Miles side as i did so the man looked at me. " Tell us what happened." A slight breeze sprung up and wafted a scent my way. I inhaled with my eyes closed. " Miles i have a scent." Miles turned to me "Where is it leading?" I inhaled the scent once more before answering. "Its heading south." Miles turned back and/ started asking questions. The women beside the man who was talkimg to Miles began to stare at me. I opted to take on Miles demeanor and stay emotionless. The women finally looked away when we heard shouts from the back of the crowed that seemed to have grown in size. I turned to see a man shoving his way up. "What are they even doing here. It wasnt even us attacked it was the transfer warriors!" The man shouted. " What do mean transfer Warriors?" Miles cold voice sounded from beside me. " We had warriors come from the main pack." Miles nodded " We must go and begin tracking." As we began to walk away people seperate so we can get threw. We made our way south of the packs territory. " Your father has become alot bigger then the council thought." I held back a snort. "He is still larger then what you think." Miles slightly turned his head at me. I sighed I knew he wanted me to elaberate. "Look my father has takin control of most of the packs here in northern america and some in the

south. But keep in mind that he has only targeted the small ones. As to not rise suspicion with the council. As far as I know and understand He wants to be the king Alpha. And before you say there hasnt been one in hundreds of years I know. My mother told me the stories. Thats the only reason I know. How she knew of them Im not really sure. But thats not the point. What is though is that my father thinks that he can be." Miles eyes widdened a fraction " The one thing we have going for us is that he hasn't attacked any of the bigger packs that we know of or yet. But Im sure its bound to happen sooner or

later. But once again not the point we are here to find Lucid not my father." Miles smirked as I walmed ahead. " Your like your mother. You have the same attitude she does." I smiled "Thank you." As i turned I caught Lucids scent "Miles?" I looked over to see him nod that he caught it also. " Split up we will come around. Eliminate your scent." I nodded and made way around. But what I saw when i made the clearing stopped me in my tracks
