Protecting the Alpha

* CHAPTER 18 *

Blake found nothing on the security tapes. Whoever got into my room knew what they were doing. Blake's frustration on the matter was pushing itself on others. Some of the pack members were scared while others wanted to hunt down whoever it was. Flame didn't want me going to Miles alone anymore she thought it was unsafe. I agreed I also made my pack hunt and do anything in groups. So you could imagine what Miles thought when I brought Blake to my training session. " Who is this Leah?" Miles cold voice sounded from the shadows. " There was an incident at home. No one is allowed to travel alone." Miles looked at me curiously. " Very well then. You need a sparing partner anyways. Now our lesson today is scent." Blake he back a laugh. "Scent? She's a werewolf why are you working on scent with her?" Miles rolled his eyes and continued on. "You need to learn how to mask your own not to mention learn other scents." I nodded my head. "Now I need you to have your inner wolf lay dorment. Can you ask her to do that." I shuffled my feet around and sighed. "I can't ask her." Miles crossed his arms. "Why not?" I cleared my throat and kept looking at the ground. " I'm not connected to her like a normal warewolf. I can't speak to her." Miles furrowed his eyebrows in thought. Blake looked shocked and didn't know what to say. "This will make it easier." I looked over at Miles "What?" Miles nodded " Since you are not fully connected all you will be hide is your secondary scent. In other words your wolf scent." I surgically looked at miles " How am I to do that?" Miles had Blake sit on the porch as he stepped toward me. " Close your eyes, now I want you think on your wolf locked up completely. Are you visualizing it." I nodded my head yes. "Now open your eyes." As I did so Blake was standing by Miles with a confused look. " You smell different. Actually you don't smell at all. You have no scent." Blake said in wonderment. " I wasn't expecting you to have no smell. This is very interesting." Blake looked behind him at Miles. "Why is it interesting that I have no scent." Miles moved Blake out of his way so he could stand in front of me. " You should have a secondary scent your human half scent. I wonder how you managed that?" I just shrugged my shoulders. "We will think on that later. Follow me I have scents you need to smell." As we filed in I began to notice Miles home. there was hardly anything in it. Even the walls were bare except for one wall that had a few photographs. I stopped to look at them for a moment. Only one really caught my eye. There was a women who looked identical to me. We had the same chocolate brown hair same olive complextion. The only difference I could find was that her eyes are green. While I have ice gray with green flecks in them. Something else I noticed was that Miles was with my mother in it smiling. He was actually smiling an actual ear to ear full on grin. how weird is that he never smiles he might smirk but he beverage smiles. "your mother wanted to go on a picnic. that picture was taken by the pond north of here." I stared at the picture for a moment more before turning and entering the kitchen. I noticed on the table a few vile. "Go a head and sit down. The both of you." Blake pulled my seat out for me before sitting himself. Miles came over then with a few other viles. He pulled the cork out of one and handed it to me. I looked at it for minute trying to decide what he wanted me to. "Pull the cork out and smell." I held the vile up to see a very clear liquid. I popped the cork and held it under my nose. The liquid smelled like water and mud. "It smells like water and mudd. what is it." Miles sat down at the table with snacks and drinks. " That smell is a Kappa." I seen Blake's eyes widen in surprise. "I thought they weren't around any more?" Miles slightly nodded his head. "There are few still around. but most believe they have died out. now the next scent." He handed me another vile. As I putt this scent up to my nose I started sneezing. " this smells like a bunch of pepper." I got out through my sneezing " Its a witch's secondary scent. They can cover the over powering scent for humans." he handed me another vile. As I opened it Blake and I gagged. I hurriedly closed it. " That was horrible." my voice was raspy from my gagging. "That is the scent of a rouge werewolf who has gone

mad." I furrowed my eyebrows in thought. " Why do they smell so bad?" Miles gave me a cold stare. " It's the madness that has taken over them." I nodded my head. as I opened the next vile. my eyes widened in surprise. " I have smelled this before!" I handed the vile over to Blake. As he smelled it his look mirrored my own. " That's the same exact smell in your room. What is this Miles?" Blake's voice growled out. " They are called Yokai. There are different types but this one can transform into an animal." All I could do was stare at Miles. " You said you smelt this in your room?" I nodded my head " Twice actually once in the states and here. Both times my room was destroyed."

Miles sat in silence for a moment. "Yokai have magic and the ability to transform. a lot of them now an days are assassins. But there are some who work for the families who have high standings in the super natural world." Miles said in his cold and some what monotone voice. " If you have a Yokai after you, Someone is out to get you." I frowned the only person who I could think would want me gone was my father. Unless someone else out there wanted to get rid of me. "I'll ask around see what I can find out. I might not find anything out so don't get your hopes up." I nodded my head. "A little information is better then none." Blake rumbled out. Miles looked at Blake with amusement. "That is true. now lets return back to your lesson." By the time my Lesson was completed the sun was coming up. "Miles holds nothing back from you." I nodded my head in agreement. "He wants me to be above my best." Blake shrugged his shoulders. " Well at least we have an idea on who snuck into the pack house." We stepped through the tree line to see Flame waiting on us. "Another room was trashed while you were gone." My eyes narrowed in anger. "Whose room was it?" Flame hesitated a minute she looked over at Blake then back at me. "Whose room was it!?" I shouted out. "Rissa,Ryia,and Hadley's." my eyes widened after that I heard nothing else that flame said. I felt someone grab me from behind " Calm down Leah you don't need to scare the girls." I sent an elbow back into whoever had a hold of me. I heard a grunt of pain then the grip they had on me loosened. I dropped down and went sprinting towards the house. I broke the door down only to see my daughter's sitting on the bottom of the steps. "Whoa mommy that was....AWESOME! If me and Ryia put the door back up will you do that again!?" Rissa said excitedly with Ryia sitting next to her nodding her head in agreement. Hadley was on the floor oblivious to every thing just coloring. I couldn't help it I laughed. "Oh yea we get to redecorate our room Aunt Flame,Tinsley and Jocelyn said so." I smiled down at them" Of course. we can do whatever you want." The girls smiled and nodded. "Leah.. You need sleep you trained hard last night." Blake was standing in the door way waiting for me to answer. Rissa smiled at him " Blake did you see what mommy did!" Blake looked confused and looked around. "I kicked the door in." I sighed. Blake shook his head "Flame said they were okay" I took a deep breath and without saying a word I went upstairs to bed.

a few hours later

I awoke to a pounding sound coming from down stairs. I threw the blankets off of me and made way down. " I demand to speak to your so called alpha!" I heard a male voice shout. as I reached the shouts I got a huge whiff of something sickly sweet. "You need to leave now boy." I heard someone calmly say. That must be River. He's the calmest out of the males here. " What's going on down here?" River and some others were at the door blocking it from my view. "Oh hello leah. so nice of you to come

down." I snarled and moved River out of my way. " What are you doing here Lance?" Lance gave me a cocky smirk. "I just came to see you sis." I growled and glared at him. "Your lying Lance. now I'm going to ask you one more time. Why are you

here?" Lance just kept his smirk plastered lacrosse his face. "Our father sent me to fetch you." I started to laugh. "He sent you to fetch me?" Lance rolled his eyes "I think it's best you leave. I'm not going any where." Lance's eyes darkened in anger. " Mommy who's this?" I looked over my shoulder to see Rissa and Ryia. "Girls go back inside I'll be in a minute." Lance had a huge sickly sweet smile " Well hello there little pups." I whipped my head around and growled. " You need to leave now." Lance just chuckled at me. " Who is going to make me do that. Your to weak and so is your pack." I heard some of the pack warriors who were training outside growl. "No that's were your wrong Lance." Lances stupid smirk graced his face again. "Think you can get me to leave Leah." I shook my head at his stupidity. "No Lance I don't. You see lance I will kill you not make you leave." Lance lunged at me but some of his pack warriors stopped him. "Think about this Lance. We are on her territory not ours. She has every right to take you out." I looked at the boy speaking. He looked familiar to me bit I couldn't place him. "Leah are you..." I looked to see Flame standing there in shock. "Flame?" I heard the boy whisper. "I thought you died. They told me..." The boy drifted off in mid sentence. "They told me the same thing." Flames voice cracked. She was holding back her tears. She was never one for crying. "YOU BASTARD!" The boy yelled he went running towards Lance. "Blake stop him he'll get hurt. he can't take them all on." Blake grabbed the boy by his shirt collar. he struggled to get away growling and snarling the whole time. "Lance leave now this is your last warning." I said coldly. "You can't talk to me in that way!" I sighed "Flame,Thayne,River do you mind getting him and his lackeys off our territory." All three stepped up "Not at all alpha."

River spoke up. "Tell our father I said hi won't you lance." I motioned for Blake to follow me. Now I only have to figure out who this guy is and also why my father wanted me back home?"
