"You guys be careful. Stay with your aunt." bilin sa amin ni mommy.
"Yes, mom. You take care here too." masayang sabi ni Liv at yumakap sa mga magulang namin.
This is the first time that our parents let us go downtown with aunt Riley. Well, I forced Liv to ask them because I know they will agree if she's the one who requested it.
"Enjoy!" pahabol na sigaw ni dad bago kami tuluyang makaalis.
Aunt Riley started the engine. Sa loob ng ilang minutong byahe ay nakadungaw si Liv sa bintana, manghang mangha sa lahat ng kanyang nakikita. I silently watched her. Seeing her happy makes my heart feel like exploding because of happiness. I'm her older sister. It's just normal for me to feel this way.
"I actually don't know if I can buy all I need to buy while looking after two little kids. Do you think you two can explore the town alone?" tanong sa amin ni auntie nang makarating kami sa bayan.
"You'll let us?" hindi makapaniwalang tanong ko.
"Only if you promise that you won't tell your mom and dad." nakangiting sagot niya.
"We won't, auntie!" halos sabay naming sigaw ni Liv.
"Alright." auntie handed us some money. "Go find something to eat. Don't stray too far and please, strictly no magic." binulong niya ang kanyang huling sinabi.
Tumango kami ni Liv bilang pagsang-ayon. Kapag nalaman nila mom at dad ang tungkol dito ay paniguradong hindi na kami muling makakatapak ng bayan. I'm 9 and Liv is 8 but they still treat us as babies. It's annoying, really.
"Let's eat first." wika ni Liv at inakbayan ako.
I frowned. We're the same height now. Sana naman ay hindi siya maging mas matangkad sa akin. I'm older than her. I should be the one taller.
"What do you want to eat?" I asked.
"Anything." simpleng sagot niya.
We entered a fancy looking cafe. I ordered food for us and I didn't forget to get her strawberry milkshake, her favorite. We started eating quietly.
Napukaw ng isang batang lalaki sa kabilang dulo ng cafe ang atensyon ko. I think we're the same age. He's eating his burger messily. There's ketchup all over his face and it's disgusting. Hindi ko namalayang nakatitig na pala ako sa kanya.
"Kaye." tawag ni Liv sa akin dahilan para mapunta sa kanya ang atensyon ko. "You're staring at that boy." seryosong sabi niya.
"I'm not." pagtanggi ko.
She squinted her eyes. "Do you have a crush on him?"
Agad akong umiling. "I don't." matigas na sabi ko.
That kid is disgusting. Only an idiot would have a crush on him. Kumunot ang noo ko nang ngumiti si Liv ng nakaloloko.
"You do." natatawang sabi niya at tumayo. "Wait for me here."
"Where are you going?"
Ngumiti lang siya ng matamis bago naglakad patungo sa kinaroroonan ng batang lalaki. Nanlaki ang mga mata ko. What is she doing?
She's currently talking to the boy but I can't hear them because they are kinda far from me. Ngumiti ng matamis si Liv sa lalaki at naglakad pabalik sa table namin. She's now holding a lot of tissues. Napairap ako sa kawalan. She used the tissues as an excuse to talk to the boy.
"His name is Marcus." nakangiting sabi niya at muling umupo sa tapat ko. "You're welcome." dagdag pa niya.
"I told you I don't have a crush on him." inis na sabi ko.
