"Yes, for this is my last resort," Kharis replies to Leonidas.

This man is the supreme commander, he can have her killed in an instant but that is alright. She meant what she said when she told Esme she would gladly die trying.

"It has already failed," he says, walking past her. Before he can open the door, her words stop him.

"I understand your heart belongs to another and you don't want to betray her"

What is she saying?

"But I have gone to bed every night, wondering if it will be my last. Do you have a clue in the slightest what that feels like?" she asks, turning to him.

"I do not care."

"Liar. You did not want to feed on me because you knew I would begin to age as wearhs do. You didn't want to take that away from me."

Turning around, his face contours in anger. He walks up to her, the poor woman taking a few steps back, "Who do you think you are?"

"A woman that would give up her life for anyone and everyone she cares about."

"Then you chose the wrong manor to play hero."

"What about you?"

"What about me?" he asks.

Looking into his eyes, she says, "General Cassiel told me what you had to go through to get this manor standing strong and tall. Not in detail, but the fact that it took so much energy, and power, how could you let it crumble? This is not the time to act like the king's decree is nothing, when it will cost you everything!"

"You don't know me! An insignificant human that has lived but two and three years does not know me!"

"Then feed on this insignificant human and save your manor! I am but a nobody so why does it matter at all? What is this weight on your shoulders that is depriving you like so?  Will you feed on another slave then? Is it me?"

"Kharis stop"

"I can get another person and explain the circumstances"

"I said stop"

"My Lord please!"

"IT IS YOU!" he bursts out, startling her yet again. Leonidas' eyes are now red, the veins on his temples and neck, clearly visible.

Kharis' heart beats frantically as she takes slow steps back, but Leonidas follows her. She intended to make him see reason not to get him all riled up. Will he attack her?

"My Lord-"

"Do you know why I forgave you after I caught you in my study?"

Kharis shakes her head, her back coming in contact with the wall.

"I thought about how I could easily snap your neck in half," he whispers, touching her neck with his fingers, making her shiver.

"But your scent intoxicated my senses. After all this training my men and I went through, I saw myself on the verge of snapping, just because of you. If I have a taste, I will continue to want more. every. single. day. I would go mad Kharis and eventually, die. You will be the death of me."

Shaking her head, she reaches out touching his cheek, "In exchange for saving us, I vow that I will be there through this madness that will never come because I will be there when you need me, My Lord."

Leonidas closes his eyes and dips his head kissing her neck, as he grabs her waist, his tongue tasting her skin. Kharis' breathing changes pace, as her hand leaves his cheek, and goes through his soft hair, resting on his back. She can sense him fighting the urge to taste her blood, so she presses her chest against him, her fingers circling his back as she whispers, "Please."
