Something does not sit right with her. It seems like there was some contradicting information. Kharis sits on the bed, in the chambers she shares with her lover, going through the history books from the study, and the more she reads and re-reads the more things don't add up.
"How is this even possible?" she whispers to herself going back to the book, trying to piece things together. Nothing is in fact coming together, and the thought that she might have potentially discovered something is becoming more and more apparent.
She left the chambers earlier to ask Greta a few questions to refresh her memory, and the answers she received made her heart pound as she thought about the possible scenarios. She is back in the chambers thinking of the best way to bring it up. Maybe she just needs a different perspective on how things played out.
The woman stayed cooped up in the room eating enough to keep her focus on her research. Day fell as she pondered and racked her brain, finally deciding to look for Leonidas to tell him what she discovered. This would definitely be huge and a remarkable turning point in history!
With these thoughts running through her mind, she stands from the bed, heading towards the door, only for Leonidas to walk through.
"Kieran," she says, glad that he saved her the trip of having to track him down.
He opens his mouth to say something but Kharis beats him to it. "Kieran there's something terribly wrong," she starts, making him glance at the bed filled with books.
She turns back, walks towards the bed, and grabs one of them.
"I was told you barely ate."
"How could I? I did have enough to keep me going."
The wearh sighs, a bit annoyed at her neglecting herself, "Kharis-"
"Kieran look," she says, pointing at the words in the book.
He reads it, before looking back at her, waiting for an explanation.
"We both know how the war between humans and wearhs started, but the history book you have in your possession is not matching that of Nyland's."
"Elaborate."
She nods, "Both humans and wearhs acknowledge that Princess Lola of Nyland died because she killed King Oleander's wife, but in the history book you have, it says King Oleander himself killed her."
"And?"
"Well, the books in Nyland state that she was executed."
Leonidas sighs, "She was still killed, Kharis."
"Right but why didn't it explicitly mention the king himself killed her? In Bethillore the king does not execute people himself, especially not royals."
"He was very upset and wanted her to die by his own hands."
"So why doesn't Nyland mention that to show how bitter the king was that he executed the princess himself, not following protocol? Nyland would do anything to paint wearhs as evil as they can, so why?"
"I do not think this is very significant, Kharis."
"That's what I thought as well, but look at this," she says pointing at the book again.
"Here it states that after Princess Lola died, her parents, King Steven and Queen Gloria wanted blood but they were also killed, leaving their envoy to return to Nyland. The princess was their only heir so the crown was passed to King Steven's brother, Prince Erikson, who birthed King Alexander. Prince Erikson vowed to exact revenge on wearhs for the bloodshed."
