CHAPTER 54: NYLAND

Late update due to my busy schedule, but an update nevertheless. 😊

Kharis is sitting in her chambers with Gisella, watching her sister with a smile as she eats a bowl of fresh fruits that were brought up to her.

"How do you feel?" Kharis asks.

Gisella swallows the grapes in her mouth, placing the bowl on the table, "I should be the one asking you that question Kharis. All this information about who you are, what you are, it must have been so hard to take in."

She nods, "You are right. I did not believe it at first but then, it all made sense. Humans and Wearhs cannot reproduce, but I was able to conceive Kieran's child."

Gisella nods, "I apologize for not writing to you."

"You are a new mother and things must have been stressful and overwhelming for you-"

"I should have been there for your Kharis, I left you."

"To find your happiness! You do not owe me your happiness, Gisella. Kenric makes you happy, his home makes you happy, and the safety of your child gives you joy, so why would you give it all up for your sister? Where do you draw the line?"

Gigi does not respond looking down at her hands, but Kharis holds them, 

"Besides, if you had not gone back, Kenric would not have gone to Lyre and found those letters. We would not have found a way to stop this bloodbath. You saved us, Gisella, your decision has saved us all."

"That is if we find her diary, and the book shared between Princess Lola and the king."

"Kieran said it should still be there, so let us have faith."

"Alright."

Silence rests between them for a bit before Kharis asks Gisella what has been plaguing her mind.

"Uhm...I know you said you and Kenric are still together, so why is Hamlin...how should I put this-"

"Escorting me?"

"Yes."

"He wants to make amends with Greta."

"What?"

"Yes, he said he regrets giving her that ultimatum and would like to set things right."

Kharis scratches the back of her neck, tilting her head to the side, and Gigi notices her awkward display.

"What is it?"

"Oh! Nothing!"

The woman narrows her eyes at her friend, "Alright! I think Greta has moved on."

"What? With whom?"

"It is just a speculation so don't go blabbing to Hamlin alright?"

"Fine, but who could she have possibly moved on to?"

"...The Knight Commander..."

"Lord Leonidas' second in command?"

Kharis nods. Gisella lets out a harsh breath, "Wow...both my sisters have a type."

"Gigi..." She says with a frown.

"Tis only a joke. I never really had a conversation with him so I have no clue what he is like. I am just worried."

"I know...remember this is only speculation, so please-"

"I know, I know, I won't utter a word to Hamlin."

Leonidas is outside with Princess Freya and her personal messenger.

"This just came in, Your Highness," the elf says, handing a letter to her. Freya takes it looking at the seal, before handing it over to Leonidas...a message from Cassiel.
