Kharis' heart accelerates the moment those words leave her lips. Leonidas is frozen under her, and she does not know what to do.
"...What?" he asks, seemingly believing that he was suddenly hearing things.
"...I'm pregnant, Kieran."
The wearh furrows his eyebrows trying to piece everything together. The woman on top of him is human, and he is a wearh. Yes, he always emptied himself inside her, but that should not have been a problem since a human and a wearh cannot bring forth a child.
"That is not possible," he mutters to himself, racking his brain on the possibility that this could happen.
"I know."
Kharis suddenly feels discomfited on top of him after minutes of pure silence. "Kieran, please say something."
"...It is not possible."
The woman mentally panics, moving to get off him, but he holds her tight against him.
Another minute of silence washes over them before he asks,
"...How are you feeling?" resuming her back rub.
"I don't know...scared?"
"Do you want to keep our child?"
Did she hear him correctly?
"O-our child?"
"Well since I'm the father it is ours," he says in an obvious tone.
Kharis is filled with warmth and relief at his words. She hugs him tight as she replies, "I want to keep our child."
Leonidas presses a kiss to her head holding her snug against him.
"No need to panic, Kharis."
"I thought...you would question whether you were the father"
"I lie in this bed with you every night. If you had been with another man, I would've perceived his scent on you."
A chuckle escapes her lips.
"I love you, Kieran," she says, kissing his chest.
"I love you too"

"How is that even possible?!" Cassiel asks pacing the study.
Leonidas sits by the table as he furrows his eyebrows thinking long and hard.
"Is she human?" Isaac asks
"She said she is," Leonidas replies.
"Then what the hell is going on?!"
"Cassiel calm down, it's not like she's pregnant with your child."
"Isaac this could be very dangerous for her! If the commander is indeed the father-"
"Since," he corrects.
"Apologies commander. Since he is the father that means that baby could kill her!"
Leonidas relaxes his back against the chair. He is not going to give Kharis up, he cannot live without her.
"I've sent for a doctor, but she says she's not feeling sick."
"We can only hope that remains the same because if we're wrong, that thing will drain her."
"What about the event coming up in a few weeks?" Isaac asks.
"She's not going," he says in finality.
A knock on the door draws them out of their conversation.
"My lord, the doctor is here," a maid announces from behind the door.
