Chapter Five: Ross’s P.O.V-
Ok, something weird was going on. Carter and I were out with her parents and she was all snuggled up to me. Not that it bugged me, but it was just weird. I was thinking that Alayna had something to do with it. Maybe Carter felt threatened… like her territory was being encroached on. I played along letting Alayna know that I was (and forever would be) Carter’s. No one could take me away from her.
“Hello my name is Frankie and I’ll be your waiter tonight. Can I start you all off with some drinks? Perhaps a glass of wine?” Frankie, looked to be about mid- twenties and luckily wasn’t checking out my girl.
“Just plain water will be fine.” Mr. Stonewell said.
“As for me,” Mrs. Stonewell said.
“And for you, young lady?” he turned to Carter.
“Root beer,” Carters voice was still as beautiful as church bells.
“Same as the lady,” I smiled, discreetly putting my hand on Carter’s thigh.
Frankie walked away to fill our drink order. I looked at my menu.
“So, Ross how was tour?” Mr. Stonewell asked.
“It was pretty cool because it was my first time being out of the states, but I really missed Carter. The fact that I missed her kind of had an adverse effect on me the first night. After like the first month I finally got over the fact that every night after the show I wasn’t going to go home and hear about my girlfriend’s day at school or watch a movie with her and hold her hand through the scary parts. I realized that I was going back to an unfamiliar hotel to sleep in an unfamiliar bed and hope and wish that the next morning I would wake up and be back in California.” I said, honestly.
“It sounds like you had a tough time with touring. Were there any fun parts?” Mrs. Stonewell asked.
“Oh yeah,” I said, starting to draw little circles on Carter’s leg with my index finger “We went into the London Eye and we saw Big Ben and we also went on a tour of Buckingham Palace. It was pretty cool.”
“That is so cool,” Carter said “How come you didn’t tell me that when we were on Skype or texted or called each other?”
“I just wanted to focus on you.” I shrugged “Rydel helped me pick the perfect gift for you.”
“What is it?” I asked.
“No way it’s your Christmas present!” I said.
Her parents laughed.
“Fine,” she sighed “I’ll wait till Christmas.”
Frankie came back with our drinks and began taking our order of food. I went for something cheap and ordered a steak, but even the steak wasn’t cheap… Of course what did I expect from coming to Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant, CUT? If this was how Carter and her family ate every night then WOW! Carter ordered the prime rib and Mr. and Mrs. Stonewell ordered the porterhouse steak for two.
“Are you excited for Christmas, Ross?” Mrs. Stonewell asked.
“Yeah, I can’t wait to see all my family in Colorado.” I smiled.
Out of the corner of my eye I could see Carters expression take a downfall.
“I used to spend Christmas in Colorado with Carter and Camila when it was just us. We went skiing early in the morning then we would come back to our cabin, eat some breakfast and open presents.” Mr. Stonewell said.
