Chapter TwentyTwo: Ross’s P.O.V-

I showed Carter all our rooms and the basement where we pretty much started with our love of music. We only spent a couple of hours there then went back outside and into the car.

“We make a good pretend married couple.” I observed, with a wink.

“I think we do too.” Carter smiled at me.

I leaned across the middle console and kissed her lips tenderly. Carter pulled back and laughed.

“I don’t know about you but, I’m pretty sure our parents would be VERY angry if we got married at sixteen and almost seventeen.” She said, intertwining our hands as we pulled away from my old house.

“If we did, they’d have to get over it!” I said, already thinking about the subject.

“With time I’m sure they would… we definitely couldn’t have kids right away… especially if I was still in high school. Oh the torture I would go through.” She shook her head.

“I would make sure that you weren’t tortured. I’d probably get you an at home tutor or something.” I shrugged.

“Whoa whoa… whoa; you aren’t purposing to me are you?” she asked.

“No! At least not right now…” I said.

“Ok good,” she breathed a sigh of relief.

“I don’t even have a ring!” I said “What kind of guy would purpose to a girl without a ring? And not just some ordinary ring, one that has AT LEAST one diamond on it.”

“I honestly don’t know anyone who got purposed to without a ring.” She pushed some hair out of her face.

“Exactly, because it never happens,” I said.

Carter laughed. Her thumb was rubbing across the back of my hand.

“So, lunch, Pinkberry, park or Pinkberry, park, lunch?” I asked.

 “Lunch, Pinkberry, park,” Carter nodded.

I nodded too and brought the back of her hand up to my lips. I kissed it like I was a prince and she was my princess. Well, she was my princess and as far as I was concerned she would always be. We pulled into a parking lot of a small restaurant. I put the car in park and came around to Carter’s side of the car and opened her door. She stood and stretched her arms above her head. I wrapped my arms around her as we walked through the doors.

“Hi,” the elderly host said “Table for two?”

 “Yes please,” I said.

“Right this way,” he smiled at both of us.

Carter smiled up at me as we walked on. I sat down and she sat across from me.

 “First date?” the host asked.

“No, actually, we’re boyfriend and girlfriend.” I reached across the table and intertwined our fingers.

 “First love?” he smiled.

“Yeah,” Carter’s eyes twinkled at me as she blushed.

“Hold on to first love; who knows you could be the last person she’ll be in love with.” He said to me before patting my shoulder and walking away.

I smiled at Carter. I wondered if I could be the last person she’ll be in love with.

 “Yes,” Carter said.

“Yes, what?” I asked rather confused.

“You’ll be the last person I’m in love with.” She smiled.
