Chapter 14: Ross’s P.O.V-
The next morning I woke up to feel a small figure moving up and down with breath in my arms. I knew it was Carter. I slightly smiled at the fact that I’d be waking up to her every morning from now on. She rolled over and buried her face in my chest. Her breathing was steady and even. I tightened my hold on her and closed my eyes.
“Meh, Ross, are you awake?” Carter asked, groggily.
“I am,” I said “Why?”
“I have to pack today… I don’t want to have to go to my house more than once.” I could feel Carter trying to get up.
I pulled her back.
“Where are you going?” my eyes snapped open.
“I’m getting up so I can go,” she said, trying the getting out of bed thing again.
“See I can’t let you do that… It’s in the boyfriend code not to let their girlfriends out of bed early.” I whispered.
Carter giggled.
“Can I get up if you do too?” she asked.
“Yes, but I don’t want to get up… the boyfriend has to get up willingly.” I shrugged and smirked.
“Fine,” she sighed and snuggled up close to me.
I played my hands through Carter’s hair. I could feel her running her nose along my collar bone. It tickled a lot, yet it felt soothing. I let out a slight sigh as she kissed the hollow of my neck. She was trying to get me to get up and I knew it.
“I know what you’re trying to do… and by the way… it’s working.” I said.
“And what exactly am I trying to do?” Carter asked, tossing her head back and shaking her hair away from her face.
“You’re trying to trick me into getting up.” I said, rolling on top of her and pinning her down.
“No,” she said “Tricking you into getting up would be telling you I have to go to the bathroom and then making noises like I’m throwing up again till you come in and check on me.”
“That actually sounds like something you would do.” I said.
“Oh that reminds me… I have to go to the bathroom.” She said.
“Nice try Stonewell, you’re not going anywhere.” I shook my head.
“Fine,” she rolled her eyes at me.
I smiled down at her and touched my lips to hers. She put her hand on the back of my neck and kissed me back. I pulled away and looked at the clock.
“It’s almost nine; we should get up,” I said, rolling off of Carter and sitting on the edge of my bed.
“Finally,” Carter sighed.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I chuckled.
“I just have a lot to get done today and I think your dad said something about Sunday afternoon football.” She said.
“Really?! YES!” I said.
Carter giggled slightly as she gathered her clothes and ran across the hall to the bathroom. I changed into a black tee shirt, maroon jeans and white sneakers. I tossed myself back onto my bed. I looked up at the ceiling. This was the first time in days that I’ve been alone. My arms felt lonely. I sat up just as Carter decided to blow down my door and slam it behind her.
“I’m angry,” she said, running one of her hands through her hair.
“Ok, let’s just take slow breaths, and tell me why.” I got up.
