Chapter Eighteen: Ross’s P.O.V-

Carter and I walked out of the house. I looked over at her and noticed that she was wearing the yellow hoodie that I had left with her all those months ago. I smiled to myself and kept walking through the woods.

“I see you still have the hoodie.” I smirked at her.

“Yeah… I’m going to need you to wear it for a while now because it doesn’t smell like you anymore.” Carter said.

 I laughed.

“So I guess you’re keeping it?” I asked.

“Yes,” she said, with a straight face.

I smiled at her. She looked like an angel in the snow. I stopped walking and touched her cheek. Even though it was three in the afternoon I could see her breath and mine. I got closer to her and kept her cheeks under my hands. Our breath passed through the small space that still remained between us. Her eyes were sparkling like diamonds in the sun. I felt her move closer to me. She got up on her tippy toes and pressed her lips to mine. I moved my arms to have one wrapped around her waist and my other hand braced against her ribs. Her hands played through my hair.

“Kissing is more romantic in the snow.” Carter observed.

“Then don’t interrupt it.” I suggested.

I stepped forward till her back was against a tree. I placed my hands on either side of her hips and kissed her. Her hands fluttered up towards my shoulders. I could feel eyes on my back, but I didn’t turn around. I was certain that she could feel my heart jumping out of my shirt. She pulled on my till my body was pressed to hers. Her hands moved from my shoulders and to the base of my abdomen where she slid her hands upward and left her hands resting in my hair, caging my head with her arms. I pulled back and rubbed my nose on hers.

“Ross?” I heard a voice behind me.

I turned my head and saw my cousin Rosebud and her friend Jennifer.

 “Hey Rosebud,” I acknowledged them.

“Hey, who’s your friend?” She asked.

“This is my girlfriend.” I looked back at Carter.

 Carter smiled.

“Carter this is my cousin Rosebud and her friend Jennifer.” I put my hand on Carter’s back and rubbed up and down.

“It’s really nice to meet both of you.” Carter smiled.

“You too,” Rose and Jennifer said.

They walked away and went into the cabin.

“I don’t like that Jennifer girl she was eyeing you WAY too much.” Carter said.

 “I didn’t notice.” I shrugged.

“Mmmm- Hmmm,” she said “Do they usually stay at the cabin?”

“No, they have one on the other side of the mountain but they come over for dinner or sometimes just to visit.” I said.

 Carter looked semi irked.

“If Jennifer keeps visiting I’m going to have to step my game up.” Carter said.

“What do you mean?” I placed my hand on the tree over Carter’s head and leaned over her.

“I have to be around you more and keep you close.” She said.

“Mmmm I like that idea,” I smirked and pulled her hips against mine.

She wrapped her arms around my neck. I pressed my forehead to hers and closed my eyes.

 “I’m cold,” she said.

I wrapped my arms around her and started walking back towards the cabin.

“Sometime you’ll actually have to show me around instead of just going straight to the kissing (which was inevitably going to happen anyway).” She said.

“Hey you have to admit, it was A LOT better than walking aimlessly around a mountain.” I said.

 “Very true,” she nodded.

“I’m glad you agree.” I smiled.

“I’m glad you’re glad that I agree.” She giggled.

I kissed the top of her head as we come through the door of the cabin. Jennifer and Rosebud were nowhere to be seen which was nice because then Carter didn’t have to be on her guard.

“Carter, dear, do you think you could help us with dinner?” Mamoo asked.

“Of course, Mamoo,” Carter said “Ross you want to help me?”

“Well I was going to play video games but yeah, I’ll help you.” I said coming around to Carter’s side of the kitchen bar.

“Whoa, Carter, you’re getting Ross to help… in the kitchen? You’re like some sort of wizard.” Rydel said.

“I’m not a wizard… I just ask politely.” Carter shrugged.

“There’s that and the fact that she’s got these huge eyes that make you melt.” I hugged Carter from behind and kissed her cheek.

 “Aw,” Carter said.

“Ross, Carter, you two can start cooking the meat for spaghetti.” Mom said.

 “Okay,” I said.

I put some oil in the bottom of the pan and sat the ground beef in as well. Carter broke up the meat into small chunks and I held her from behind. Cooking was so much more romantic this way.
