Chapter TwentyOne: Carter’s P.O.V-

The next morning when I woke up Ross wasn’t in the bed, but I could hear him strumming around on his guitar. I rolled over and saw him sitting in the chair next to the window.

“Good morning,” I said, still snuggled down in my blankets.

“Good morning, babe, did I wake you?” he asked.

“Not technically; no,” I said “Your lack of closeness is what woke me.”

“I can fix that.” He placed his guitar back on its stand and got back in bed.

Ross snuggled up close to me and burrowed his face into the crook of my neck. I could feel him breathing in and out steadily. I giggled as it tickled my neck.

“Are you having a good time here?” he asked me.

“Yeah,” I smiled “Of course I miss my family but yours kind of reminds me of mine.”

 “I’m glad,” he said.

We were quiet for a minute. I was focused on trying to smooth down his crazy hair when he started talking again.

“There’s nothing planned for today so what do you want to do?” Ross asked.

“I don’t know… I don’t really know much about this place. What do you want to do?” I asked.

“We could go into town… I could show you the house where we all grew up and we could go to the park and get some frozen yogurt. I think there’s a Pinkberry place around here.” He said.

“Mmm, I haven’t had Pinkberry since… before I met you probably.” I said thoughtfully.

 “Me neither,” Ross nodded.

We stayed in bed a bit longer then we finally decided to get up and change. Since I was fairly certain I hadn’t scared off Jennifer I grabbed the clothes that I knew would keep Ross’s attention all day, not that I needed any help with that, and went into the bathroom. I got my head wet, put in some product, brushed it through; blow dried it, and finally curled it with a hot curling iron. I had read online that you could wear a cardigan as a top so I decide to roll with that for the day. I put on my black cardigan, my best jeans, and zebra print heels. When I was done putting on my clothes I did my eye makeup. There was a knock on the door.

“Come in,” I was putting the finishing touches on my eye shadow.

 “Hey you- WOW!” Ross said.

“You look gorgeous!” he said “Heels? Did I not express the dangers of those while on a mountain?”

“You did but it’s for a good cause.” I said, leaning over the bathroom counter to get a better look at the mirror.

“Uh- Huh and what cause would that be?” he crossed his arms.

“The… uh… hey don’t these jeans make my legs look great?” I spun slowly in a circle.

“Actually they do! No surprise… you look amazing in every- I know what you’re doing. You’re trying to throw me off the trail! It’s not going to work; fess up!” He said.

“I’m trying to keep your attention away from other girls and on to me.” I sighed.

“Hey,” he took my cheeks in his hands “You’ve got my attention ALL day everyday!”

“I know but I want to keep it that way.” I sighed.

“You don’t have to try but I love the gesture.” He smirked holding my body at arm’s length.

I laughed. Ross kissed my head and kept his arm around my waist. We walked down the stairs.

 “Good morning,” Mamoo said.

“Morning,” Ross and I said together.

“Would you like some breakfast?” Mrs. Lynch asked.

 “We’d love some,” Ross said.

“Well come on, we’re just about to sit and eat.” Mamoo said.

We walked over to the table. I sat between Ross and Rydel.

 “Good morning,” Rydel smiled.

 “Morning Delly,” I smiled back.

“Where are you and Ross off to today?” she raised an eyebrow.

“I was just going to show her around Colorado.” Ross shrugged.

“That sounds nice.” Mamoo said, placing the last of the food on the table.

“I take it that means you want to borrow the truck?” Papa asked, looking over the edge of his newspaper.

“If that’s ok,” Ross said, sheepishly.

“Of course it is!” Papa said.

 “Cool,” Ross smiled.

I laughed and picked up a piece of toast. There was a knock on the front door and then it swung open.

“Hey, hey, party people.” Rosebud said.

“Hey Rose,” Mamoo laughed “Where’s Jen?”

“Oh she went home for a couple days.” Rosebud shrugged and sat down at the table.

I did a little victory dance inside. Breakfast was much more pleasant knowing that nobody was going to try and make a move on my Ross. When Ross and I were both done he grabbed the keys from his Grandpa and we were off.

“So first stop… the house I grew up in!” Ross said as soon as we were leaving the mountain.

“I’m excited to see that house that my baby grew up in as a baby.” I pinched his cheek.

 “Ok, ow,” he said.

 “Sorry,” I apologized.

I turned on the radio and flipped through the stations. I stopped on the one that was playing One Direction’s Truly, Madly, Deeply. Ross and I both sang along with that and laughed when some faster song came on. We knew we were singing the wrong lyrics but we were having a good time.

“We’re here,” he said “Hey, it looks like they’re having an open house. Wanna check it out?”

 “Of course,” I smiled.

Ross helped me out of the car and we began walking up the path to the door.

“Let’s make this a game! You and I can pretend to be newly married.” He laughed.

“That shouldn’t be hard seeing as we act like we are anyway.” I smiled.

We walked inside and were immediately bombarded by a real estate agent.

“Oh Bella look,” one of them said “A newly married couple!”

“How sweet,” the one whose name was Bella said.

This was going to be a fun game!
