Chapter 17: Carter’s P.O.V-

Somewhere along the way to Colorado I fell asleep on Ross’s shoulder. I could feel his hand on my knee just before I woke up. My eyes fluttered open and turned to look at him.

 “Hi,” I yawned.

“Hey,” he said “We’re almost to Colorado. I’m pretty sure that we’re over Moab, Utah.” He rubbed my leg.

 “Cool,” I yawned again.

“Are you still tired?” he asked me.

“Eh… More yawning is part of the wake up process.” I pushed some hair back out of my face.

“We have some movie options on these thingies why don’t we watch one?” he pointed to the screen on the back of the chair.

I laughed at the use of the word thingy and nodded. Ross cued up the list of movies to choose from. We settled on Tangled. We sat the snuggled together and watched the beautiful Disney romance unfold. By the middle of the movie we had forgotten we were watching something and had started kissing one another. Needless to say the rest of the plane ride was a glorious make out session. Ross and I had enjoyed ourselves… I’m not sure if the rest of the passengers thought it was nice to see two people in love making out. He told me that I shouldn’t really even care. The plane landed on the runway and we all mad our exits from the plane.

Ross handed me my bags from over head as he pulled his beanie cap over his beautiful blonde hair. I strapped my brown fringe purse across myself and took two of my suitcases. Ross took the other one of mine and his suitcase and duffel bag. I unzipped my purse to check on Ross Bear (the bear). He was fine which made me feel better. I stuck close to Ross as we walked through the airport. When we finally got to the parking lot Ross’s Papa and Mamoo were there with two big cars.

 “Welcome home kids!” Mamoo said.

I pushed Ross forward and hung back; I didn’t want to disrupt the family reunion. I took my third suitcase from him as he moved to hug his grandparents.

“Papa, Mamoo, this is my girlfriend, Carter. Carter this is Papa and Mamoo.” Ross smiled as he took my hand and pulled me toward him.

I moved with his pull and braced my hand against his chest.

“She is much more beautiful in person.” Mamoo said.

“She certainly is; Ross you’ve got yourself a keeper.” Papa said.

“Thank you Mr. and Mrs…” I paused for their last name.

“Oh no, call us Mamoo and Papa.” They insisted.

“Ok well it’s lovely to meet you guys.” I smiled.

“You too,” Papa said “Ross speaks very fondly of you when we chat.”

“Does he?” I asked, looking over at Ross.

“Yes, you’re pretty much ALL he talks about. I feel like I already know you, give me a hug.” Mamoo said.

I smiled and gave her a hug. Her hugs reminded me of my own grandmothers, which gave a twinge of pain into my heart because I knew I wasn’t going to see her, or the rest of my family, in Texas. I pulled back and took my place next to Ross. They continued talking as a family and I stayed under Ross’s arm. He looked down at me.

“Are you cold?” he whispered in my ear.

I nodded. He shrugged out of his hoodie and wrapped it around my shoulders.

“No, you need it, I just-” he cut me off.

 “Just take it.” He laughed.

 “Fine,” I smiled.

“We should get heading to the cabin. I’ll bet Aunt Shae and the B’s and G’s have beaten us there.” Papa said.

We put our luggage in the trunk of a rental van and began driving to the cabin. Ross, Rocky and I sat in the back Rydel, Ryland, and Riker in the middle and Mr. and Mrs. Lynch in the front. Papa and Mamoo were in the truck ahead of us. I snuggled close to Ross, still cold. He brings his arms around me again and kisses my hair. I can feel heat radiating from his chest.

“How are you always so warm?” I asked.

“It’s a boyfriend thing.” He shrugged.

I laughed. Ross’s hand trailed down to my hip and rested there.

“I’m going to try and sucker my grandparents into giving us a room to share.” He whispered into my ear.

I slightly giggled. Could this boy get any cuter? We pulled up to a two story cabin and stopped.

“So this is the famous Lynch family Christmas spot?” I said.

Ross nodded as he jumped out of the van and picked me up in his arms.

“Be careful; it’s very slippery.” Ross advised.

“So I take it that wearing heels is out of the question?” I asked, taking my luggage out of the trunk.

“Even though I love the way it makes your legs look I have to say no for safety reasons.” He said.

“Aw man,” I said “Wait I have a solution; I can wear them around the cabin and wherever there is solid ground so I’ll just wear snow boots when I leave the cabin and the rest of the time off the mountain I can wear the heels. It’s a win for the both of us. I still get to be tall and you get to look at my legs.”

 “Nice plan, Stonewell.” Ross said.

“I know I’m full of them.” I laughed.

We went into the cabin and stood in the living room.

“Wow, this place is beautiful.” I said.

“Thanks sweetie,” Mamoo said “Ok so the room situation, Stormie and Mark in one, Riker and Rocky in another, Rydel and Ryland share this time around and Ross and our ever so sweet Carter get to share.”

 “Awesome,” Ross smiled.

I went up the stairs and followed Ross.

“Which one is ours?” I asked.

“The one with the yellow door,” Ross said.

I came through the door and put my stuff on the bed.

“I should unpack but I want to hang out with my family.” He said.

“Go ahead; I’ll unpack for you.” I smiled and slipped my arms around his muscled stomach.

 “You sure?” he asked.

“Babe, I packed for you… how much different could unpacking be?” I asked.

 “Ok,” he said.

Ross kissed my head and walked back out of the room. There were two dressers in there so I designated one for Ross and the other for myself. Promptly following that I went and unpacked our bathroom supplies. There were two sinks in the bathroom so I chose my sink and put my things around it and then put Ross’s around the one sink that was left. When I was done there I hung up some of my clothes and put some book and my phone on my bedside table. I left my laptop in its bag and leaned it up against the wall. I was done and pleased with my work so I went down stairs and sat with Ross on the sofa.

He looked up at me as I sat and his face lit up like a Christmas tree (no pun intended). His arms went around my shoulders.

“Why don’t you show Carter around the mountain?” Mrs. Lynch suggested “We’ve been on planes all day and you haven’t really had couple time.”

“Ok,” Ross stood and helped me off the couch.

I went upstairs and put Ross’s yellow hoodie on over my sweater. Ross took my hand and lead me out of the house. Oooh a romantic walk in the snow! Nice idea Mrs. L!
