Chapter Twenty: Ross’s P.O.V-

I walked over to the bar that separated the kitchen from the living room. I pulled out a chair for Carter and myself. I sat and patted my lap for Carter to sit down. She smiled and climbed up. I kept my arms around her. I felt her tense when we walked into the room and I knew that it had everything to do with Jennifer being here. I did my best to keep her from killing my cousin’s best friend. I took in the smell of her hair that was hanging in my face. It had the familiar hint of frosting. I kissed behind her ear and kept my face that close to her. My Mamoo turned and looked at us.

“Oh honey, look at them!” Mamoo said to Papa.

 “What about ‘em?”Papa asked.

“That used to be us!” she smiled and touched her heart.

“Oh, I was going to say ‘they’re going to break my furniture’ but that works too.” He said.

Mamoo hit Papa in the side with a dish rag. Carter giggled and kissed my cheek.

“So how did you guys meet? Ross has told us everything BUT that.” Papa said.

“Do you want to tell them?” I asked Carter.

“Sure,” she smiled “Uh… We met at an R5 Meet and Greet at the mall up the street from my apartment. I was waiting in line with my best friend (and Rocky’s girlfriend) Kaylynn. I was looking down at the ground and when I looked back up, there he was. Prior to this my friend was saying how she just KNEW that Ross was going to fall head over heels in love with me. She called it and I’ll probably owe her for the rest of my life.”

“Aw!” Mamoo said “And what about the first date?”

“The first date actually happened after the meeting. I told Rydel that I was leaving and then she said ‘I assume you’re going to see Carter’. I ran as fast as I could to catch up and I ended up following her to her apartment. The best pick up line I could think of was ‘hey beautiful’.” I laughed.

“I thought it was cute.” Carter smiled.

 My siblings walked in then.

“Oh is Ross telling you guys the tale of how he became a first class stalker?” Rocky asked, opening the fridge.

“Rocky, leave your brother alone.” Mamoo warned.

“Yeah Rocky, I was about to use that one.” Papa laughed.

The fist bumped and I rolled my eyes.

“So Carter, ya gonna come with us and watch the boys play hockey?” Rosebud asked.

“Uh… Maybe… I have somethings I need to get so I don’t know.” Carter replied.

“That’s too bad,” Rosebud said “Jen and I are going.”

“If you guys are going I’ll go.” Carter jumped at the chance.

I knew what was going on. I held tight to Carter’s hips and got up. I took her hand and pulled her up the stairs with me. The story was that I was going to get my hockey gear and make sure that Carter wasn’t going to get cold. It was true, but that wasn’t my only agenda for leaving the room. I wanted to know what was going on with Carter… There was only a week left before Christmas and I was pretty sure she hadn’t gotten anything for her family. We walked back into our room and I closed the door.

“You don’t have to go just because Jennifer’s going, ya know.” I said.

“I know… but I want to.” Carter said “You’re MINE!” she sat down on the bed.
