Chapter Eight: Ross’s P.O.V-
Carter and I walked back to the changing room, holding large towels around our shoulders, trying to dry off before we headed to the park. Carter took the next outfit and walked behind the privacy screen. I walked over the rack with all our clothes hanging off.
“Which one do you have?” I asked, flicking through the clothes.
“I laid yours out for you,” Carter replied.
I walked over to the chair and looked to my left. I could vaguely see behind the screen as Carter changed her shirt, with her back to me. She pulled her new shirt down over her back and stomach. I couldn’t hold myself back. I walked up behind her and wrapped my arms around her waist.
“Whatcha doin?” she asked.
“Hugging you,” I sighed.
“Ok,” she turned and wrapped her arms around my neck.
I breathed in the scent of her hair as it rested under my chin. It smelled like fresh wild berries. But as always she had on her trademark vanilla frosting perfume. Carter chuckled and sighed. We remained quiet for a minute or two, but then I realized I should get changed.
“I’m going to leave you alone to change the rest of the way.” I said leaning down to kiss her shoulder.
“Alright,” she said.
I came out from behind the screen and took my clothes. I changed into a collared, striped shirt from Hollister, white cargo shorts, and green sneakers. I ruffled my hair and sat on the couch. Carter came out from behind the screen wearing a turquoise and blue shirt and white shorts. She was squeezing her hair out with her beach towel when she sat down next to me.
“You look pretty,” I said.
“Thanks,” she smiled.
I kissed her head. She set her towel in her lap and began to put on her green Converse sneakers. When she had finished with that she dragged me out to the hair and makeup area and sat in the chair.
“So Ross, what hairstyle do you think I should give Carter?” Julie asked.
“I like it when she curls her hair.” I folded my arms in front of my chest and leaned on the arm of Carter’s chair.
“You do?” Carter asked.
I nodded my head.
“In that case I need to start curling my hair more often.” She laughed.
“Yeah,” I agreed, with a smile.
Julie began to wrap Carter’s hair around the curling iron and Quinn started on the makeup.
“Quinn do you have watermelon lip gloss?” I asked.
“Yeah… Why? Do you need it for something?” Quinn gave me a skeptical look.
“I don’t need it but that’s like Carter’s signature thing. I love the way it tastes.” I winked at Carter.
“Ooooh,” Quinn cooed.
Carter’s cheeks turned a deep shade of pink. I smiled and leaned down to kiss her cheek, but was stopped.
“Hey, hey, hey! Don’t kiss her right now, it’ll ruin the makeup.” Quinn scolded.
“Fine,” I said deciding to kiss Carter’s head instead.
“Watch the hair!” Julie warned.
“Ok FINE,” I conceded.
I took Car’s hand kissed it and walked away. Mom was in the dressing room putting the clothes on hangers and hanging them on the moving clothing rack.
