The story just follows Nash Winters from the last chapter of the previous book.
"In a bedroom in Kiloude City Gym, at night, years after the previous book"
Nash stands with a smile on his face looking at the TV built onto his bedroom wall. He wears a Tshirt with a Gengar on it, and black shorts. On the TV is his father in a Master's Eight Battle that took place earlier in the day
Nash: C'mon c'mon!
Announcer (on TV): What an amazing battle! Royal Cup King for seventeen years, Natsu Winters and the currently ranked fifth Jinzo are in a heated two on two battle! Natsu's Weavile easily defeated Jinzo's Galarian Darmanitan! And now Jinzo's Mega Abomasnow is exhausted!
Jinzo (on screen): Wood Hammer!
Mega Abomasnow runs with Wood Hammer
Natsu (on screen): Use Metal Claw!
Weavile uses Metal Claw, it dodges Mega Abomasnow as it swings Wood Hammer around. Weavile jabs Mega Abomasnow in the face
Nash: Yeah!
Alex opens the door
Alex: Why are you still up?!

Nash: I'm to excited to sleep.
Alex: Your brother and sister were in bed early before getting their first Pokémon. You have an early train ride to Aquacrode Town to meet with Shun.
Shun is Taylor and Tenka's son
Nash: All right fine.
Nash jumps into his bed, his mother turns off the TV and turns off the light. Alex smiles
Nash: Why are you smiling?
Alex: Because you look so much like your dad. Goodnight, I love you.
Nash: Love you too.
Alex closes the door
Nash: Tenth birthday here I come.
"The next morning"
Nash wakes up, jumps out of his bed and runs downstairs
Nash: Today's the day!
Nash slips and rolls down the stairs, and into the kitchen, his back hits the lower cabinets
Nash: Worth it.
Nash jumps up and heads for the battlefield of the Gym, Alex grabs the back of his shirt
Alex: Where do you think you're going wearing your pajamas?
Nash: To get my first Pokémon.
Alex lets Nash go
Alex: Yeah about that.
Nash: Don't tell me I can't go.
Alex: It's not that. It's just me and your dad decided that your first Pokémon won't be one of the Kalos starter Pokémon.
