Chapter 4: A Taya Town Rival!

"In Taya Town"

Nash and Carmin arrive at the battlefield at the Pokémon Center and see two Trainers battling

Nash: Hey it's Chase.

Carmin: And he's using a Sneasel.

Nash: His opponent is using a Honedge.

Boy: Use Fury Cutter!

Chase: Dodge and use Dark Pulse!

Honedge heads for Sneasel with its blade glowing green. Sneasel jumps over it and fires Dark Pulse. Dark Pulse pushes Honedge to the ground, and Sneasel lands on its feet

Referee: Honedge is unable to battle! Sneasel wins! The match goes to Chase!

The crowd claps. Chase gets Sneasel in its Pokéball, and walks inside. Nash and Carmin go inside as well

"Inside the Pokémon Center"

Nash: Hey Chase. How's it been?

Chase stops before getting to the front counter and turns to Nash

Chase: What do you want?

Nash: Just saying hello. No need to be rude about it. Have you gotten any more Gym Badges since Santalune City.

Chase: That's none of your business.

Carmin: Are you always this rude?

Chase: Who are you again?

Carmin's eye twitches

Chase: Hmph.

Nash: What do you say to a battle?

Chase: Hard pass.

Nash: Why not?

Chase: Last time we battled I won. We battle again, it'll end the same way. What more can you do with just a Riolu, and a Beedrill?

Nash: They're not my only Pokémon anymore. Say hello to Mudkip!

Nash throws a Pokéball and Mudkip comes out

Mudkip: Mud!

Chase: Hmph.

Nash: What's that supposed to mean?

Chase reaches into his pocket and takes out a Pokéball. He opens it and a Swampert comes out

Swampert: Pert!

Mudkip shivers

Carmin: Was Swampert your first Pokémon?

Chase: No. I caught Swampert back in Hoenn. You'll meet my first Pokémon when I feel like it.

Chase gets Swampert in its Pokéball, and goes to the front counter. Nurse Joy takes the Pokéballs he gives her

Nash: Moody.

Carmin: Just challenge someone at the battlefield.

Nash: Yeah that's probably my best bet.

"On the battlefield"

Nash and Mudkip battle against a girl and her Rockruff

Girl: Use Rock Throw!

Nash: Dodge and use Water Gun!

Rockruff uses Rock Throw, Mudkip dodges each rock thrown, and gets to Rockruff's side. Mudkip uses Water Gun and blasts Rockruff off the field, Rockruff lays on its side

Carmin: Rockruff is unable to battle! Mudkip wins!

Girl: Rockruff return. Get a good rest.

The girl gets Rockruff in its Pokéball and walks inside the Pokémon Center
