Chapter 4

We finally make it home and I quickly get out of my brother's car and let my seat down for Max. I go inside and go straight to my room. I throw my bag down and pick up my guitar.

"I'm taking Max to the arcade. I won't be back until late." I hear Billy say through my door. "Okay." I reply as I pick up my guitar pick. I hear the front door slam so I start to play 'The Four Horsemen' on my guitar.

Several hours later

I hear the door slam shut and I sigh knowing my dad is home and my peace and worrie free time is gone. I put down my guitar as Neil bangs on my door. I groan and walk to my door and open it.

"Where the hell are Max and Billy?" Neil asks aggressively. "Max is at the arcade and Billy said he was going somewhere and wouldn't be back until late." I say recalling what Billy said earlier. "Why?" He asks. "What do you mean why?" I ask with an attitude annoyed that he would asks such a stupid question.

"Excuse me?" My dad says clearly getting angry. "Why would you ask that question? Max went to the arcade to play games and Billy probably went out with his new friends or something." I say matching his aggression.

Neil backhands me across the face and I gasp. "Watch your tone bitch." Neil says and I hear Susan gasp from behind Neil as I turn back to look at him. "Then don't ask stupid questions!" I yell as tears fill my eyes.

Neil then punches me in the face and I fall to the floor because of the force of the punch. I hear Susan yell and I hear the front door open as I start to sob. I hear footsteps running towards my room and I look up to see Billy. "SAY THAT AGAIN YOU WHORE!" Neil screams at me. Billy steps in front of me and Neil glares at him. "She won't." Billy says as Neil steps up to him. "I want to hear her say that." Neil says as he continues to glare at Billy.

"I won't I'm sorry." I say quietly in between sobs. "I'm sorry I didn't quite catch that." Neil says as he redirects his glare at me. "I won't. I'm sorry." I say louder than before. Neil sends Billy a final glare and leaves my room.

Billy closes my door and quickly wraps me into a hug. I sob as he runs his fingers through my hair. "Why does he have to be like this?" I manage to say between sobs. "I don't know Bells. I don't know." Billy says as he continues to run his fingers through my hair.
