Steve Harrington has had a crush on Ruby Buckley since the first time he set eyes on her.
It was another boring shift in Scoops Ahoy, on a Summer afternoon, when she walked in with a group of Hawkins High cheerleaders.
Confidence absolutely radiated from the short brunette girl. She walked in like she owned the place, and absolutely stood out from the crowd of girls she was currently in.
The Harrington boy would usually start flirting aimlessly with all the girls at once, but this time he just stood there. Cheeks beginning to redden as she walked up to the counter.
Up to him.
"Ahoy there, sailor." The beautiful brunette stranger joked and winked at him, making her fellow cheerleaders snicker behind her.
"H-Hello, what can I do for you?" he stuttered, cursing himself for not sounding as confident as he wanted to.
"Is she here?" The girl, that he didn't know, asked, leaving him confused.
"Is who here?" His eyes widened a little bit, truly not understanding who she was talking about.
"Ruby!"
Robin came running from the back, slamming the door to the side with a wide grin on her face.
"Hey there, sis. Long time no see, eh?"
The short girl turned her body towards the door Robin just came blasting out of, and started running to it, meeting her halfway, where they hugged each other tightly.
"I missed you, Rubes" the blue eyed girl whispered into the crook of her sister's neck.
"I missed you more." The brunette whispered back.
"Sis?" Steve asked, with confusion still visible in his brown eyes.
"Yes, sis. Dingus, meet my beautiful little sister, Ruby".
"Hey, dingus." Ruby joked while walking to where Steve was standing, and pulling her hand towards him, in attempt to shake his.
"Steve Harrington, right? Robin told me so much about you. It's nice to finally meet you!" The girl said, but Steve just stood there in awe, slowly turning his gaze from her hazel eyes down to her hand.
"Are you gonna shake it? Or just stand there until our shift is over?" Robin exclaimed as she walked towards the back room again.
"Oh, I'm sorry, it's nice to meet you too, Ruby." He finally shook the girl's hand, while his other hand rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly very aware of the stupid hat that was messing up his best feature. "I didn't know Robin had a sister."
