It took a minute, but the figure now became a bit clearer.
A tall, long curly haired guy was standing in front of her, with what seemed (and smelled) like a joint between his lips. He took it out of his mouth and placed it in between his fingers.
"Didn't mean to scare you."
She finally managed to see his face clearly.
It was Eddie 'The Freak' Munson.
"You okay?" He asked in a concerned tone as she raised her head, only now getting a good look at the girl standing in front of him.
He recognized her.
It was Ruby Buckley.
'The Queen'.
Now, more a shadow of a queen after the trauma she apparently experienced by losing her dick boyfriend Billy Hargrove in that mall fire.
And although a shadow, she was still absolutely gorgeous.
Eddie Munson has had a small thing for the brunette for a while now.
She defended him once when they were children.
Bullies were harassing him in the school playground, and she came over and punched one boy who called him a freak right in the face. She was smaller than the whole group, including Eddie, but she didn't care.
She got suspended for that.
Can you imagine? Getting suspended at the ripe age of seven, defending a boy you didn't even know? Eddie definitely thought he did imagine it. But it happened. He admired her courage and remembered it until this day.
You'd think he'll forget by now, ten years later, but no.
It stuck with him.
"Um...yeah." Ruby answered his question and took a deep breath. "I'm okay."
Suddenly, her legs gave out and she fell to her knees, the tears still streaming down her flushed cheeks.
"Okay, my ass." Eddie mumbled to himself.
He sat down, facing her, contemplating on putting a reassuring hand on her thigh, deciding to do it. But as his cold rings made contact with her skin, she dropped from her knees to her bottom, her back pressing against the cold wall of the gym's exterior.
"Please. Just-" she stuttered, "Just give me a second to breathe. Please." She closed her eyes and tilted her head back, taking another deep breath as Eddie moved next to her, back against the wall.
"Take your time, princess." He said, inhaling in smoke from his joint.
The hazel eyed girl opened one of her eyes, witnessing him putting the thinly rolled cigarette between his lips. This gave her an idea.
