Dustin and his mom were sitting on the couch, watching the news.
"Many of the residents we spoke to voiced similar concerns to us. Grief, shock, disbelief, anger. Everyone wants to know the same thing, how can so many tragedies befall a once- peaceful town? All eyes are now on the police for answers. Is the new chief of police, Powell, in over his head? Or is he the very savior this town needs? We'll be here the rest of the day right here on channel nine, where we'll keep you posted on all the latest developments. In the meantime, we recommend you keep your doors and windows locked tight. This is Beverly Moss, signing off for..."
"My heart can't take it anymore. It just can't take it." Mrs. Henderson said as she kissed her cat, addressing the reports on the tv.
Then, the doorbell rang. Dustin got up and opened the door. Max and Ruby were standing there, Ruby with bloodshot eyes, still full of tears as Max was holding her hand tightly. The boy looked at them confused, before letting them inside the house.

"Chrissy Cunningham?" He exclaimed, pacing the room. "You're sure it was Chrissy?"
"I think I know what my best friend looks like, Henderson." Ruby mumbled under her breath as Max gave her hand a squeeze before repeating her words to Dustin.
"Yes, she was in her cheerleader outfit. Same thing she was in when I saw her with Eddie and Ruby."
"Did you tell this to the cops?" The boy asked as he paced the room.
"No. No, but I...Ruby and I can't be the only ones who saw them together. They stood out." Max continued talking, "I mean when I saw Ruby get out of his van I was so surprised."
"Eddie the freak with Chrissy the cheerleader?" Dustin was so confused.
"Exactly. You know, his name's not in the news yet or anything, but I guarantee you Eddie is suspect number one right now." The redhead stated before Dustin raised his voice.
"That's crazy. Eddie didn't do this. No way." Max raised her eyebrow, gesturing that she didn't believe him.
"No way." Dustin yelled again.
"Well, we can't rule it out." Max shrugged her shoulders.
"Yes, we can."
"Dustin!" The redhead had disappointment laced in her voice, as if he was pathetic to believe the words coming out of his mouth.
"You don't know him like I do, Max. Okay? When we got to high school, Lucas made all his sports friends. Mike and Me? I mean, no one was nice to us. No one except Eddie." Dustin tried to convince her, but it seemed like it wasn't working so well.
