you leaned against the lockers as your best friend, robin buckley, collected things from her own locker. "you should come over tonight." you told her, watching the crowd of teens rush past you. "hm?" robin hummed, poking her head around the locker door. you smiled at her. "stay over tonight. we haven't had a sleepover in, like, years." you exaggerated. robin laughed. "it's been a few months, y/n." she reminded you. "yeah, well, it feels like years." you told her, making her laugh again. "fine. i'll come over later. after i get my homework done." she closed her locker and turned to face you. "then we can have our super awesome sleepover." she exclaimed, theatrically. you smiled. "can't wait! see you after class?" you asked. robin nodded. "see you then, sunshine." she smiled before turning and walking away. you smiled at the nickname. she's called you since you were practically kids but now, it made you feel all warm inside. you quickly shook your head. you shouldn't feel like this. not towards your best friend. you can't ruin your perfectly crafted 'little miss perfect' persona.

robin pushed through the sea of teens as she tried to make her way to class. she couldn't get the image of your gorgeous smile out of her head, no matter how hard she tried. she knew you didn't feel the same and she respected that but she couldn't just get rid of her feelings. she would hide them though. she would do anything to be with you but she doesn't want to do anything that would ruin your friendship. she pushed all her thoughts to the back of her head and continued walking to class.

after school, you were in your room, laying out a blanket on the floor and placing a few pillows on the edge of it for you and robin. you looked through your box of rented and owned movies, making sure you had a decent selection before pushing them beside your tv. just as you finished setting up, there was a knock at your door. you practically ran downstairs and opened the door quickly. you were met with a smiley robin who held a plastic bag. "i brought the candy!" she exclaimed. "just like when we were kids!" you smiled back and pulled her into the house. "where's your parents?" she asked. "my dad had some sort of business trip out of town and my mom just went with him." you told her as you closed the door. you began walking up to your room and robin followed behind you.

you walked into your bedroom and held your hands out to the blanket and pillows in the middle of the room. "ta-da!" you exclaimed, shaking your hands around at the blanket. robin laughed. "all this for little old me?" she teased. "of course! only the best for you, rob!" you smiled as you sat on the blanket, cross legged. robin copied you and sat across from you. "i've ordered some pizza." you told her as you looked through the bag she had. "they'll be here soon." you added. as if you had planned it, the doorbell rang. you jumped up and walked to the door once again, paused the delivery man and brought the pizzas up to your room. you sat them on the side of you and robin, placing the tall bottle of soda you had also bought beside the boxes.

after the pizzas had been eaten and some of the candy had been opened, you and robin were just sitting against your bed as your paul mccartney vinyl played in the background. "hey." robin piped up. you turned to face her. "what?" you asked. "let me braid your hair." she said. you furrowed your eyebrows. "what?" you asked again. "let me braid your hair." she repeated. "i did it when we were younger." she reminded you. "robin, the last time your braided my hair, my mom spent at least an hour trying to get the knots out." you chuckled at the memory. robin laughed under her breath. "that was years ago. i'm better now! cross my heart and hope to die!" she said, placing hand over her heart. you shook your head. "fine." you grabbed a brush from your drawer and handed it to her. you turned so that your back faced her.

robin gently brushed your hair with the brush, careful not to tug your hair at all. you immediately relaxed into her touch. it felt heavenly. you let your eyes close as you sinked deeper into the cloud of relaxation. only one thought in your mind. robin. that was it. it was all just robin. you tried to think about something else. anything else but you just couldn't. you blamed it on the fact she was braiding your hair but you knew you were just lying to yourself. she's been the only thing you've been able to think about for a while now. her hypnotic blue eyes, soft brown hair, the beautiful shape of her lips, his gorgeous smile. yup, it's definitely not just because she's braiding your hair. "done!" robin announced, snapping out of your daydream. you looked at the mirror that was sitting in your room, smiling at the kinda messy braid.

"it looks amazing!" you smiled back at her before turning back to the mirror. robin wish she could just confess right then and there. the way you smiled at her made her heart break because of how gorgeous you looked. she was head over heels for you but no one would ever know. she wishes she could just scream it from the rooftops that she liked you and prayed you liked her back but life wasn't that easy, and she knew that but she never stopped dreaming. never.

you turn back to face robin, the messy braid hanging over your shoulder as you smile over at her. robin smiled that gorgeous smile back to you. maybe it was it was the fact she was kind enough to braid your hair or maybe it was all your hidden feelings finally reaching the surface but soon enough your hands were on her cheeks and your lips were on hers. robin was shocked at first. there was no way this was happening right now. she's dreamed of this moment for so long. as soon as she feels you pulling away, she placed her hand on the back of your neck, pulling you straight back in again, her hands then sitting on your waist. you moved closer to her until you were practically in her lap. robins hands never left your waist. you pulled back and leaned your forehead on hers, your eyes sill closed as you processed what had just happened.

"wow." robin whispered. you chuckled. "cat got your tongue?" you teased, brushing your nose against hers. "i think you do." she said. you furrowed your eyebrows. "no, not like that. just- like- you've- you've left me speechless." she explained. her hands stroked up and down your waist. "wow." she repeated. "you're gorgeous." she complimented, moving her head slightly to kiss the tip of your nose before returning back to the original position she was in. "hey, i was gonna say that." you pouted. robin smirked. "sorry, sunshine, but it's true. you're breathtaking." she looked at you, her eyes filled with adoration as she did so. you wrapped your arms around her middle and held her close to you, pressing your cheek to her chest. "you don't know how long i've wanted to do that." you mumbled into her shirt. "trust me, i've probably wanted it longer." she laughed. it felt surreal. you had just kissed your best friend. your crush. and she kissed you back. she liked you back. she likes you. it was truly a dream come true.
