Chapter 3- Dragonfly
Ashley, Abbie and Andy were the last to get dropped off. Abbie looked up at the rather impressive-looking building in awe.
"You live there?" she asked, pointing to it.
"I live in an apartment in there," Andy corrected, swinging the bags over his shoulder. Abbie grabbed her duffle bags and fallowed him inside. They came to the elevator.
"You've been in one of these before, right?" Andy asked her. She shook her head and took a step back.
"Well, um... don't worry. It's perfectly safe," he assured her as the big metal doors opened in front of them. She looked at him wearily, but walked inside anyway, followed by Ashley and Andy. Andy pressed the right button and they were at the floor in minutes. Andy walked to one of the two doors on the floor and opened it with his key and Ashley walked to the other. Andy stepped inside and dropped the bags to the floor and motioned for Abbie to follow. She looked around his home. It was huge. There were big windows showing off the beautiful L.A. landscape, a roomy kitchen, and an area with a couple couches, chairs, and a large T.V. There was a hallway that led to what Abbie assumed was the bathroom and Andy's room lined with awards and various batman toys.
"What do you think?" Andy asked her.
"It's big," she said, looking around.
He laughed. "Yeah, I guess it is," he shrugged. "C'mon! Let me show you to your room!" He walked down the hall and stopped in front of the first door.
"There's the bathroom," he told her, pointing to the door, "there's my room," he pointed to the door at the end of the hallway, "and this," he said, opening the door, "is your room."
The walls of the room were white, as was the carpet, the big bed, and the chairs by the large windows. She looked around in astonishment and gasped at the big flat-screen T.V. on a black stand. Next to the T.V., a black bookshelf that held what looked like Batman action figures stood out. Across from the T.V. was a large desk and two doors that lead to what looked like a closet.
"Woah," Abbie whispered in amazement.
"We'll be able to paint the walls during Warped Tour and we can find a bed spread that matches later, but what do you think of it?" Andy asked.
"Amazing," she breathed, sitting on the bed. In front of the pillows, five plushies of the Black Veil Brides members stared up at her. She looked from them to Andy and giggled.
"Now I'll have you guys here while I sleep!" she exclaimed. She thought for a moment, then continued, "You know what? Never mind, that sounds a bit creepy." Andy laughed and placed the Hot Topic bags that contained her new clothes by the door.
"Feel free to unpack when ever. Juliet's coming home in about a half hour or so and we're all going to go out for dinner," Andy told her.
"Juliet?" Abbie asked.
"Oh! Sorry, I forgot all about her. She's my girlfriend," he grinned.
"Oh. Is she nice?"
"Extremely nice."
"Is she pretty?"
"Gorgeous."
"Does she know you have a daughter?" she asked, biting her lip.
"She will soon," he smiled and winked at her. The apartment door opened.
"Oh! Be quiet and stay here. I'll come get you in a second!" he whispered, shutting the door.
"Andy?" Abbie heard a girl say.
"Hey Juliet!" he exclaimed.
The girl squealed. "Andy!" she giggled.
"What?" he laughed.
"How'd it go?" she asked, her tone changing slightly.
"I have a surprise," he said. Abbie could hear the smile in his voice. She heard the girl giggle and footsteps near the door. It burst open to reveal a smiling Andy holding a giggling woman's hand. She looked about 25, and when Andy said she was gorgeous, he meant it. She was tall and slim, and her brown hair fell in loose waves around her face and hung over her forehead with bangs. Her green eyes looked warm and she smiled at her.
"Who's this?" she asked, walking up to Abbie.
"I'm Abbie. The real question is who are you," Abbie replied, looking her up and down.
"Abbie, Juliet. Juliet, Abbie," Andy said awkwardly.
"She's so cute!" Juliet exclaimed. "Why is she here?"
"Um... I kind of.. man, how do I put this?" Andy stuttered, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Andy is my dad," Abbie explained. Juliet raised an eyebrow and looked at Andy.
"You have a daughter?" she asked, slightly mad.
"Um... adopted daughter," he corrected.
Juliet's expression changed. Her smile suddenly looked forced instead of natural and warm.
"Should we invite Ashley, too?" Andy asked.
"Yeah, why not. Just in case," Juliet said.
"Alright. I'll go across the hall and get him," Andy said, walking out of the room.
Juliet's fake smile disappeared and she glared at Abbie.
"Listen you little brat. Andy and I are going great right now. I don't know how stupid you are, but when I say great, I mean great," she whispered harshly.
Abbie looked at her, stunned. "Um, excuse me?"
"Shut up and listen. If you even think about coming in between me and Andy, I'll get him to send you back to where ever you came from! Understood?"
Abbie gulped.
"Understood?" Juliet practically yelled. Abbie nodded rapidly.
"Good, now get something decent to wear to the restaurant," she sneared, nodding towards the closet and walking out of the room. Abbie nodded and looked through her Hot Topic bag. She found a black dress that seemed suitable. She peeled off her clothes and slipped it over her head. It fit her perfectly and fell to just above her knees. She ran her fingers through her hair and walked out. Juliet had changed, too. She wore a brown dress that fell to her knees and looked stunning on her, and had pulled her hair into a bun. Andy looked Abbie over and nodded approvingly.
"Sammi did well," he noted, nodding towards the dress. She smiled and nodded in agreement.
"I really wish you were older now," Ashley smirked. Andy punched him.
"Dude! She's my daughter!" he reminded him.
"So? Has that ever stopped me before?"
Abbie rolled her eyes. "Seriously, Purdy Pants? You're like my brother... and 16 years older than me."
"Purdy Pants?" Juliet smirked, looking at Ashley.
"Long story," he shrugged with a grin.
"Shall we go? I'm starving!" Andy said, taking Juliet's hand.
"Looks like you're my date tonight," Ashley smiled down at her and held out his hand.
"Don't even think about trying anything," Abbie replied, ignoring his hand and walking out after Andy. Ashley looked surprised, but quickly caught up to her. They spent the rest of the night laughing and chatting away, but Abbie couldn't stop thinking about what Juliet had said.
When they got back, Abbie went straight to her room. She slipped out of her dress and put on batman pajamas that Andy had picked out for her and crawled into bed. She tried to fall asleep, but couldn't. She stared at her Andy doll and thought about how Juliet said she'd send her back to where she came from. Would she really do that if she knew she lived in the woods for 6 years of her life, or that she could turn into a horse? What would Andy do? Would he even try to stop Juliet? If he went through so much trouble just to bring her back to L.A. with him, would he even be willing to send her back? She pondered over the thoughts in the dark. What if she did go back? The thought scared her. She didn't want to leave her friends, and she most definitely didn't want to go back to living in the dangers of a forest filled with demons, monsters, and other evil creatures.
