Chapter 31- The Dart
Before Abbie knew it, she was in a packed trailer, along with the Centaurs, wolves, Iredessa, and Angela.
“Great job. You got us into this mess. We’re probably in our way to a kill camp,” Ironhoof scoffed. Abbie sighed and rolled her eyes. Of all people she could’ve been stuck next to, it had to be him.
“Can you just shut up? Nobody wants to hear the bullshit coming out of your mouth. You probably wouldn’t understand, since it seems like she’s been through more in a week than you have in you’re entire life, but people can’t control panic attacks!” Jess exclaimed, quieting the Centaur. Abbie smiled. She was glad that Jess was on the other side of her.
“Yeah. Last time I checked you’re planet didn’t explode!” Angela said.
“And you’re boyfriend didn’t end up becoming a wolf,” Iredessa added.
The Centaur’s nostrils flared and his hands balled into fists. “You think you’ve got it hard? My father died trying to save us. They just flat out killed him!” he shouted. Abbie looked down.
“He’s never gonna find me, is he?” she asked.
“He will. Give him time. I’m sure he and the guys are trying to bring The Black Army together as we speak. He has resources. He’ll find out where we’re going. They’re probably setting up camp and gathering information right now,” Angela said, offering Abbie a smile.
“Fat chance of that. They only have one creature left to find. Then that’s all of us and they can start experimenting on us,” the Centaur remarked. Abbie glared at him.
“Only one left?” Jess asked, looking at Abbie. She widened her eyes and smiled.
“What?” Iredessa asked, furrowing her brow.
“I can’t tell you, but what I can tell you is that it’s good news. You’re right, Angela. We are going to be saved!” Abbie exclaimed. Abbie knew her, Jinxx, and Andy were the only people that knew what Sammi was, and that meant that F.E.A.R. had no idea she was the last creature they had left. Everyone looked at Abbie. “Trust me, I’d tell you if I could, but that would endanger all of us, including them.” Iredessa nodded.
“Let’s say this whole Black Army thing works and we get saved. Then what? What’s to stop them from doing this whole thing and coming after us again?” she asked.
“We could exploit them! Go on international t.v. and warn everyone! We can show me, and you, and anyone else that wants to,” Jess offered. Abbie nodded. The trailer squeaked to a stop, causing everyone to fall back towards the door.
“What if we are in a kill camp?” Abbie whispered.
“Then you’ll have nothing to worry about. You’ve dealt with death before I’m sure you can handle it again,” Jess whispered with a smile.
“Wanna scare them?” Abbie asked. Jess smiled. “Everyone that can touch me, touch me if you want to stay alive!” Abbie exclaimed. She quickly felt various noses, paws, hooves, and hands touch a part of her body. She smiled. “Can’t believe that actually worked,” she whispered to Jess. Everyone stood silent. The marching of boots and shouting could be heard outside the metal box. Right as the door swung open, Abbie made herself, as well as everyone touching her, glow. The soldiers stared in horror, eyes wide and mouth open so wide it looked like their jaws were broken.
“SOMEONE! ALERT THE CAPTAIN! SHE’S THE ONE!” one of the soldiers shouted. Abbie’s ears fell back and looked at Jess.
“Keep going, we’ll make sure you stay with us,” he whispered. The other creatures nodded. She nodded and kept glowing.
“Someone claw me, give me something to heal!” she called back so the other soldiers couldn’t hear. She winced when she felt several different claws stick themselves into her skin and rip her flesh down. The wounds healed almost instantly. Abbie nodded and look straight ahead, eyes narrow and ears plastered to her head. She was determined to defeat the soldiers and set everyone free, even if that meant sacrificing her own life. It didn’t matter, anyway. She’d just pop right back up within a few hours. Abbie saw a large troop of soldiers carrying guns charge towards them.
“Don’t worry! They can’t hurt you. What ever you do, stay with me!” Abbie shouted. Abbie heard a gunshot and a voice behind her cry out, then stop.
“It worked! Don’t worry I’m fine!” the voice said to the others, boosting their confidence.
“Don’t worry! They’ll tire out. We just have to wait,” Jess shouted above the gunfire. Suddenly, Abbie felt a twinge of pain in her neck and stopped glowing. She started to see colors blur her vision.
“Abbie, dart!” Iredessa’s voice sounded muffled. Abbie fell to the ground, changing into a human. She heard the gunshots stop and hands on her arms and legs. She looked at Jess through her partially closed eyes. She heard the sound of fighting and weakly looked at the sound. Had she been able to, she would’ve screamed. She was dragged past hundreds of Wretcheds, all handcuffed. She saw William Control look at her with sympathy. Was that possible? Was it really not F.E.A.R. that was doing this? Black, empty nothingness started to overcome her. She fought to stay conscious, but it felt so welcoming, so warm. She saw Andy. He smiled at her and held out his hand. She smiled and walked towards him, into his welcoming arms. He disappeared before she got the chance to feel his warm, welcoming grip. She heard an evil laugh, enjoying her pain. She tried to scream Andy’s name, but nothing but air came out. She started to fall, deeper and deeper into the blackness. Tears dripped down her face and wind blew back her hair. She looked down at her hands. Was she dreaming, or in reality? Was her entire a life a dream?
