"My apologies for not meeting you as soon as you both got here," Dennis stated as soon as the three arrived at his office. "Please, have a seat."
"No need to sound so formal, Mr. Vergara," Sadie chuckled and patted Dennis's back. The guy simply gave a side of a smile.
"Speak for yourself." The guy also laughed as he faced them on his table.
This gesture definitely put a sour tone in Jaden's eyes yet he simply followed Sadie quietly inside. He did not took a seat though and just stood beside Sadie like a bodyguard. Dennis noticed this and had a tight-lipped smile as soon as he saw Jaden's serious stance, yet he chose to focus on the current situation and faced the girl.
"I'm quite surprised to see you so soon, Mr. Vergara."
Dennis stopped her midway. "Please, call me Dennis."
Sadie rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, as she leaned on her seat. "Alright, Dennis. As what I have said, I didn't know you're already in the country, and to think I am staying in your resort?"
"Ah, yes." Dennis nodded. "Your sources are true when they said I was out and to be honest, I myself did not expect to be meeting you this early. Let's just say there have been sudden emergencies which forced me to go back." He looked meaningfully at Jaden and this did not escape Sadie's eyes. She reverted her sight back to Dennis.
"I see."
"Well, I am still interested to hear your proposal but given the situation, I suppose that can wait."
Situation? What situation?
Sadie was clueless as to what Dennis was referring to until the latter spoke which reminded her what it is.
"By the way Sadie, the attending doctor will be back later to check up on your wounds and see how it's coping up."
"My wounds? I don't think I have-" Sadie stopped as soon as she felt a bandage above her forehead.
How come I didn't notice this before?
Dennis simply hummed while looking at Sadie's confused face. Well there is definitely more to come because with the way he sees it, Jaden has still a lot of explaining to do.
"Don't you think she's a little too innocent for this, Jaden?" Dennis shifted the conversation to the other guy who stood like a statue ever since he arrived. Sadie's attention followed at Jaden with the way he addressed the latter.
"I know."
"And yet, she has all the reason to be here," Dennis challenged even more.
Jaden's impassive face gave a tight nod. "Yes."
"What are you both talking about?" Sadie asked as she looked at the two in confusion.
"Oh, nothing much, Sadie." Dennis smirked at how his words disturbed Jaden. "You know, isn't it odd how you both ended up here when just last night, you're both running after your lives?"
Sadie gasped yet she could hear Jaden's scoff as if what happened yesterday was just an ordinary thing for him.
"Keep her out of this, Dennis," he warned.
"Until when, Jaden? How long are you going to keep her in the dark? You said so yourself that even though she is every bit of innocent, she has a lot to do with what is happening and what's about to happen in the future."
Jaden's jaw clenched yet he kept his temper at bay. "Sadie, go back to your room."
"What? No, I will not." She stood up as she looked at him in the eye.
"I will tell you later." Jaden seemed to be the type who would not back down as well and the duo just went on a staring contest for the rest of the minute.
"Sadie."
"Fine!" the girl shouted in exasperation and left the room fuming; never forgetting to close the door as loud as she could.
Sadie marched towards the shore, aiming the floating villa. She stomped her foot while walking, not bothering to stop even when she was already in the water which caused huge waves and making her dress wet.
I just want to get out of here so bad.
By the time she reached the villa, she went up and sat at the far end while placing her feet on the water to cool down. She then gave a deep sigh as she looked at the sunny view in front of her. Sadie closed her eyes and just breathed in the moment: the sea waves, the faint noise of people swimming on the other side of the shore, and feeling the heat on the sun.
She's so tired. How many times has she thought of this. She can't keep this charade any longer. She doesn't want to be kept at the dark.
How is Daniel? Is he okay? Did her twin do this?
Sadie's eyes opened at the thought.
But that's impossible. She wouldn't do this. She's too...different from her. No, no. She couldn't be. But who?
"Sadie."
Sadie's eyes drifted from the sea to the person behind her.
"We need to talk."
-----
Don't say it.
I am frustrated with myself, too.
I just happened to have the time to update. I'm sorryyy. But I'm hoping you're still okay. Anyway, please pray that I'll have more energy on the coming days to complete the story. I do intend to finish this.
I just don't know when.
