Beloved childhood,
I hope my words find you well. Lately, I've been thinking a lot about you. I know we had our rough moments, but we also shared lovely memories.
Do you remember those evenings cuddled up in the back of the car? The seat was covered in towels, I enjoyed eating butter bread as the music accompanied my gaze while we returned home. The light after the sunset caressed my skin, and I felt true happiness.
Do you remember the warm embraces? The loud laughter? The joy I felt as I found my passion for creating art in any form possible? Painting, drawing, singing, dancing, playing piano, and even writing my first stories!
Sadly, I'm sure you recall the pain as much as I do. The night I lost my dad, the bullying of my classmates, the coldness of my grandmothers, and the insecurity of a family I couldn't trust. I was just a child! Yet, I felt as if the world was trying to squeeze the life out of my tiny lungs.
The early visits to the doctor. A migraine diagnosis at seven years old, not even a decade had passed! One office after the other with the same "You're perfectly fine, there's nothing wrong with you" and the visits to the various psychologists and psychiatrists. I had learned to swallow up to ten pills with one sip of water or even without water at all.
I'm glad to let you know I survived! We got a diagnosis of a chronic illness, but don't worry, even though there's no cure I'm handling it like the warrior you taught me to be! The rage I pent up inside is slowly being released in healthy ways. I met the love of my life, I have many dreams and plans for the future! My adulthood says thank you, without you, I wouldn't be the young woman I am today.
I have grown, I have changed, but my heart is still the same. Passionate, dreamy, full of life and wonder. I'm still that curious little girl dying to create magic and find out about the world. Tell her that she's still alive within me, that we have a loving family, those friends she always dreamed of, and that everything will be alright.
With much love,
Belle Moon.
