I didn't miss you

I missed the rain, how it drops aggresively on the soil thickening the scent of summer. I missed your lips, how they carefully move as you speak those few candid words, your tender lips as they move on mine.

I missed the way the leaves and branches rustled, whispering secrets only they can understand. I missed the way your fingertips brushed my skin, causing everything to stir inside of my deepest self.

I missed it! I missed it so much! Finally, both you and the rain were here. My chest inflated with gratitude, my vocal chords could only vibrate in joyful tones.

I missed it all...all but the feeling of dread that clung to the back of my conscient mind. When will you leave? When will you come back? Will the earth dry again? Will the drops stop falling for months again? Not again, not again!

How long will our bliss last? For how long will the soothing rain fall? I didn't miss you at all...anxiety.
