Dear, expectation:
Sometimes, I truly hate you. Without you I would be happy with who I am, without you I would be free to allow myself to just be.
You are the reason people know the taste of despair! Your long arms reach into our very chores pulling out our sweet ignorant innocence.
Before I met you, I was in love with curiosity. No pain, just glistening eyes as they explored an unknown world. Then you arrived, and taught me to wait for an specific outcome. How cruel ! How vain!
Anxiety came hugging your legs and freezing mine. Before there was excitement, and now there's fear. It's all thanks to your arrogance! Clinging to my heart pretending to know what I want.
However...I guess I should also thank you. Because one day I forgot about you entirely. Curiosity didn't come back either. Instead, I was sleeping in the arms of Numbness.
I didn't care anymore, and I wasn't free at all. If life shook me, I would just smile blankly. If life kicked me, I would kiss the ground with an expressionless face.
That's when you came to my rescue. If only I could expect for the next day to be better, for my heart to flutter once more despite the wings being broken. Yes, it was painful thanks to you.
When I expected to be better, you would disappoint me. It hurt. But it wasn't the paralyzing touch of Numbness. Pain is better than not feeling anything at all. So I welcomed you back.
Now, although I'm grateful for your help. I must bid you farewell. Pain isn't enough for a happy life, and I'm done moping around. I have contacted with Curiosity once more. She was playing with the ghost of my kid, hoping I would come back for both.
I am. I welcome the kid in my soul, and I welcome Curiosity once more. Because when I'm curious about the future, I can smile at the outcome. I can always smile, or nod my head in resignation. While you only taught me how to be angry.
So goodbye, dear Expectation, goodbye and take care.
