Cruel Time

Two decades and three years. Such a short life.
I'm so young, and yet I feel so old
The years when your laughter soothed my soul passed by in the blink of an eye
Yet the years when pain ravages my body seem to last twice as long
Time is such a petty being. Fleeting by when we wish to keep it. Crawling painfully when we wish to leave it.
Isn't it sad? I'm starting to forget the sound of your voice
The love that once made me excited is burning out, as the last candle lit at the end of the evening
My dreams seem further and further away
     They say time heals
     Time corrupts,
      Time erodes,
      Time fades,
       Time destroys
Cruel clock of mine, will you stop when my heart finds glee in my murky existence? Will you stop torturing me when things go wrong?
Could you stop ripping from me the blessings I was given?
     I know I didn't deserve them...but I was glad to have them
Now? I just beg for mercy.
