Everyone on the Octopod has said something that has contradicted something that they had established previously.
For example, Kwazii insisted he hated Tweak, but it doesn't seem likely that Kwazii would immediately drop his ball of yarn and run to her to kiss her paw when she hit it with a hammer by mistake and run to get Peso if he hated her.
Tweak has insisted she wasn't soft and smiles didn't come easily for her, but every single time Dashi hugs her (many many many) she smiles so brightly and hugs Dashi right back, and it's unlikely that someone who "isn't soft" puts kids and baby Vegimals in her lap and baby-talks to them for fun.
The Captain has promised his crew that he wasn't hungry when he was working, but his stomach gave him away and he ended up having clam sandwiches and vanilla kelp pudding nearly shoved down his throat by his less than happy crew.
The Vegimals have said that they weren't going to hug someone to death, and they don't hug them to DEATH... they hug them into a smoking pile of dust.
Inkling constantly complains about the kids to Dashi and Peso, but his energy when they offer solutions has the same energy as, "Wow, a toy. cool" "Well if you don't want it..." "No I still want it." However much the kids annoy him, he's grown fond of them and consider them all his "children" now.
The kids have all said that Inkling was boring at some time or another and they didn't want to listen to his lectures anymore, but these were the same kids who would drop everything to listen to him tell them Greek myths and little stories starring the 6 wives of Henry the 8th and the Founding Fathers of America that he made up on his own.
