Mix-ups are more than common on the Octopod. Usually they're harmless little oopsies, but sometimes, someone (Kwazii) royally screws up.
There was that time he thought Tweak said "Open the Octo-Hatch" instead of, "Turn your Octo-Watch back on.", and all the Gups were sucked out in a vacuum of water. Tweak made sure to murder him afterwards, and told this story for years after it happened.
Also, there was that time Shellington mistook one of his super explosive chemicals for his harmless ones and nearly blew up the Octopod if Squirt hadn't very innocently remarked that "But it doesn't look very safe. It's smoking."
The Vegimals get a lot of things mixed up. For example, the time that all the cuties took everyone's clothes and tried to be them for a day. Codfish ended up having a pirate's eyepatch and Shellington's magnifying glass. No one knows why.
When Inkling was organizing the DVDs on the Octopod (because he's the only one who watches them often) he failed to notice that someone had switched all the horror movies with the little kid movies, so when he tried to show Pinto The Sound of Music, he ended up showing him 'Psycho' by mistake
The Captain has made multiple little mistakes in his life from the dozens and dozens of times he's accidentally called Peso 'Pinto' and the other way around to his (attempted) pronunciations of 'Buncha Munchy Crunchy Carrots.'
Tweak cannot get Dashi's or her sisters's names right. She has been guilty of calling them by each other's names too many times, such as when Jane's helping her fix the Gup-B for a reason that's left to the reader's imagination, and this happens, "Koshi, can you hand me the wrench?"
