Kwazii, Tweak, and Shellington all insist they don't have a favorite among the kids, but every single person knows that's a lie.
The kid who is their favorite ends up helping them in whatever they do, and the kid ends up becoming their little apprentice.
The Vegimals are everyone's mini crewmates and will provide any service necessary from looking cute to passing the tools that Tweak needs to beat Kwazii up with.
When anyone decides to bring up the fact that they have a favorite out of the kids, all the adults will immediately try to deny it. Especially if the other kids are in the room because even if they do have a favorite, they still love all the other kids as well, and wouldn't want them to be sad or feel left out.
Pinto splits his time between his brother and Kwazii because he admires both of them. Peso will let him watch while he does certain procedures, and once in a while, Pinto will be allowed to help, which'll excite him beyond belief. When Pinto's with Kwazii, the Captain always makes sure to keep a close eye on them in case Kwazii has another one of his "semi-intelligent" ideas and ends up destroying the whole world while he's at it.
Believe it or not, Pinto learned to drive from Kwazii, and contrary to popular belief, Pinto doesn't destroy everything in sight the second his flippers touch the steering wheel (maybe cos Peso did most of the teaching while Kwazii just took Pinto out on midnight excursions that ended in the whole crew bailing them out of trouble once they crashed both the Gup-B and the Gup-E.
Koshi spent a good portion of her time in the library, either writing, organizing books, or discussing recent books she's read with Inkling. Even though her Octo-Siblings think she's crazy, she loves it because the Professor has so much to say about a certain part of a story that she had never even thought of before.
Squirt has felt an instant attachment to Shellington from the moment they met, and now Squirt is Shellington's labmate (aka the person who drags him to Peso after he burns himself with a chemical). Now whenever Shellington has a new experiment he wants to try, he gets Squirt and both of them do it together. Both of them are willing to listen to the other info-dump on their obsessions, so it works out perfectly.
Tweak likes having Jane around cos 1. someone can watch her stuff while she goes to hunt Kwazii down over a broken tool and 2. Someone can draw really nice blueprints for her. Tweak's grown to love her apprentice and now has even trusted Jane to use her electric tools and NOT kill anyone with them. On the plus side, now Pinto and Kwazii don't dare go down to the Launch Bay.
