Simply put, whenever someone on the Octopod screws up in one way or another, they try to play it cool and pretend nothing happened.
For example, whenever Shellington trips over his own feet, he always tries to recover himself as quickly as possible and pretend like he meant to do that by saying things along the lines of, "Oh, I was just checking if my shoe was tied or not." No one believes him.
Kwazii always tries to pretend he's not afraid of anything when in reality, he is. He once tried to say he was cold and needed the Captain to warm him up when he jumped into the Captain's arms after seeing what he thought was a spider (a piece of black fuzz off one of Dashi's knitted sweaters).
Kwazii also likes to pretend he isn't a complete softie. He'll attempt to act all distant and 'cool' for a few minutes with Pinto, but it takes him less than five minutes to crack because his little matey thinks he's the greatest thing since sliced bread and it's just too cute.
Tweak often likes to act too tough and 'cool' for hugs when she's around people, but once Dashi comes down to the Launch Bay and asks her for a hug, there's no way she can resist and can and has dropped everything she's supposed to be doing just to give her best friend a hug.
The baby Vegimals sometimes like to pretend they're "too old" for things they love. Once when the Captain had attempted to give the cuties a bubble bath, they decided that they were too old for bubbles and wanted a "big kid bath" so the Captain didn't put bubbles in. Guess where the entire bottle of bubble bath stuff went around five minutes later.
