Some insults on the Octopod are considered worse than others, and some insults just have no power whatsoever.
For example, the Captain has forbidden anyone from telling each other that they're dumber than Kwazii because it always starts fights when they do.
'Gay' as an insult has no power over anyone at all. In fact, everyone considers it more of an insult to the other person that they actually think that 'gay' is an insult.
The insult that's used instead of 'gay' is 'bigot' or 'misogynist' or anything among those lines because everyone on the Octopod is an open, tolerant person, and they hate bigots and racists.
Sometimes insults are used for fun because that's just the way people roll, and because everyone's each other siblings.
Such as the time Pinto was doing a Hispanic Holidays pageant with Peso, and he dressed up at Christopher Columbus. He was adorably proud of his cool look, and marched around the Octopod for a week, waving a big cardboard sword around. Well, he was until all of the other kids told him things like 'Congratulations, you're so stupid you thought Central America was India.' and 'Oh, for your information, the Earth is round."
Whenever Kwazii tries to "help" Tweak with anything, she usually ends up man-splaining things to him, such as telling him things like, "And these are the lights. If you wanna do somethin' without being sent to Peso, you gotta turn 'em on."
The Vegimals refuse to insult anyone ever. They think "You're mean" is the worst insult ever, and this is why no one has the balls to insult them.
