she turned around immediately after hearing the voice, the air blew her hair behind and on her face which she tucked behind her ear and saw a tall, handsome male standing with his hands in his pockets.
"you shouldn't hear someone secretly, it's rude." Alethea said crossing her arms around her chest, "i wasn't supposed to hear you, but i usually come here at this time." said maverick with a small chuckle.
"as if i care." she laughed sarcastically and walked downstairs, he just smiled at her attitude before lighting up his cigrette to smoke it off.
"Maverick, what was she doing here?" Kavin suddenly asked from nowhere, making Maverick throw his cigrette away without him knowing, Kavin came to him and stood against the boundary.
"i usually come here when i feel suffocated but today I saw her here." Maverick told kavin, "whats your plan for tonight?" Asked kavin, Maverick sighed tiredly.
"nothing. i have night shift tonight till 2am." Maverick told kavin, and heard Kavin groaned annoyingly, "why do you have to do a job when your step-father is freaking rich, man!" Kavin said irritated, Maverick chuckled.
"i don't want to owe from him." Maverick said, "Rick, i know you're right at your place but- but think about your mother, how worried is she about you." Kavin said making Maverick hum.
"i know, but he's her husband but my step-father, me and my mother have different relation with him, her is real and mine not, she has taken his surname after her name but after my name it's still the surname of my real father." said maverick and sighed at the end, Kavin patted his back.
"it's okay, I'm with you." Maverick smiled at Kavin before walking downstairs from the terrace.

entering the house, Alethea directly ran in her bedroom while granny came behind her after seeing her crying, she banged her door.
"sweetie, open the door." granny requested concerned from the outside of alethea's door, while she was sitting at the edge of her bed and staring at the plain white ceiling of her bedroom with tears in her eyes.
after listening to the requests of granny several time, she got up after wiping her cheeks off and unlocked the door just to face worried grandmother.
"what's wrong, ale? why were you crying?" Granny asked concerned, Alethea sighed tiredly before sitting in her bed again as granny came inside and sat beside her while looking into alethea's face.
"tell me, what's bothering you?" granny demanded her to speak up, she didn't want to tell her grandmother about what had happened in the university and neither about her mother's call. "nothing granny." she whinned.
"Alethea, look at me." she ignored her granny's words and didn't look at her because she didn't want her to detect her pain, "i said look at me!" granny exclaimed in a raised a voice, making Alethea look at her into the eyes in a jerk.
"Tell me." she demanded again with a gentle voice right now, "Will my trouble go away by sharing it?" Alethea asked with a shaky voice, as tears formed in hr eyes and soon slipped down to her cheeks.
"Maybe, i could help you somehow." granny stated shrugging her shoulders, after sniffling she spoke, "What kind of mother- was my mother?" Alethea questioned after wiping her tears.
Granny sighed, she didn't have anything to say in reply, Alethea laughed sadly before speaking more, "Children have to bear the brunt of parents' mistakes, isn't it granny?" again granny was left speechless.
"I'm not sad about that my classmates and university fellows have come to know that my mother ran away leaving me behind but I'm sad that if mother had run away but the father is with me, but he never gave me love, a daughter wished to get from her father..."
wiping her tears, Alethea stood up and now her back was facing granny.
"She called me in the morning- and she was crying as if she's the only one whose hurt." Granny stood up after hearing her, "You mean Jane?" granny asked confused, "Yes, Jane." Alethea chuckled at the end of her sentence.
