"oh my god, who did this?" Alba asked Andrew in concern after seeing him limping and had his cheek bone and chin and his hand bandaged, he didn't speak but threw himself down in the couch of the living room.
nobody was home but only Alba with her younger brother as bella and Jacob were went for a lunch with some friends of jacob.
"the only jerk called Maverick who else. you always take his side, even though you know how ill-mannered he is!" Andrew growled in anger and hissed as his cheekbone hurt for talking with opening a big mouth.
"there must be a reason, tell me that." she asked sternly, "really? i mean ridiculous, are you even my sister or his?" he asked in disbelief, "Drew, i have always cared about both of you like real younger brother so please tell me the reason." She asked him again, he stood up making her frown.
"with that aggressive personality, he thinks he can make her fall for him." Andrew said this while walking towards the stairs and passing by Alba who was sitting right now.
-
"You were right, that wasn't a solid reason," Maverick stopped and looked Alethea with a small smile, "i think at-least we can make our lives stable to have each-other by our sides." Alethea nodded her head at his words.
he then dropped Alethea to her home on his motorbike and then he went to his home, it was about 8pm when he reached his home, he was so glad today that the weight he was feeling on his heart was now reduced after talking to Alethea and now they were friends again.
when he reached upstairs at the corridor of his bedroom, he saw Alba's bedroom door which was closed. he remembered the way he talked to her earlier, he knocked on her door and after getting the permission to come in, he opened the door and stepped inside.
she was sitting in the couch and reading a book, when she saw Maverick she closed the book and looked at him.
"hii." said Maverick with a pursed smile, "come." she said patting the place beside her in the couch, he carefully sat beside her. "you both had fight again?" She asked after seeing the bandaged wounds in his face, he nodded his head in shame.
"i couldn't help myself when he-" he stopped leaving his sentence incomplete, "when he?" she asked him to complete even when she knew what Maverick was gonna say but still she wanted to hear it from himself.
"i- i have talked to her, we are friends again." alba nodded her head smiling, "im proud of you." she said with tears in her eyes, Maverick looked at her and when he saw tears in her eyes, he pulled her in his embrace and hugged her while she sobbed in his arms.
"it's okay to not getting good marks in test this time, rick." 17 years old Alba said while consoling her step-brother, who was crying at the age of 11 after getting 7 marks out of 20, and then got scolded by his step-father and also from his mother.
"mommy is not proud of me, sister." Maverick sobbed, "no, she's proud of you, and I'm also with you, im sure you can do better next time." she said smiling and holding his hands into hers.
"he's just a cry baby, sister." another voice came from the door frame who was 11 years old Andrew standing after getting 17 marks out of 20 for the first time, Andrew wasn't good at studies than Maverick but this time Maverick could not study perfectly because he was sick before the test.
"Drew, stop it. You should console him, he's your brother." Andrew laughed at his older sister's scolding, "no way, he's our step-brother and a loser." with that Andrew ran out, making Maverick cry more bitterly.
but this time he met the embrace of his step-sister who loves him more than a real sister and like a mother, Alba was really mature and responsible since childhood because her and Andrew's mother died when she was only 6 and Andrew was 1 year old.
and now, Maverick was consoling his stepsister like she did when they were kids. he knew it hurt her when he talked to her rudely while she was just trying to make him understand that he deserves to be loved.

the door of Alethea's bedroom knocked, making her look up at the door from her books and then she heard the door click opened revealing her father, william. she stood up in respect and he walked inside and sat down in the couch while she also sat in-front of him.
"was he Maverick?" he asked her, making her look up at her father with confusion.
