Maverick came out from bathroom after freshen up, as he came back in his bedroom he saw Alba standing beside the Glassdoor through balcony in his bedroom.

"oh, hi." Maverick said making her turn around to see him in-front of her, "oh, you came." she said and grabbed some shopping bags that were placed on Maverick's bed while he was sitting in the couch taking off his converse.

"i brought these for you, rick." she said extending the bags towards Maverick, he glanced at the bags and then up at his step-sister. "what are there?" he inquired, she sighed and smiled, "These are your gifts." she said excitedly.

"what was the need? You know very well that I'm not used to gifts." He chuckled sadly after saying this, she sighed and sat beside him in the couch. "I know that dad was never good with you, but i always accept you as my brother doesn't matter if you're step." she said giving a small smile to him with he passed back.

"thank you.." he muttered and held the bags, but just then Alba grabbed his wrist when she noticed the bandaid, Maverick didn't want to answer her so he took his hand back and stood up not wanting her to ask anything.

"what's this?" she coldly asked after standing up too, "nothing to worry about." Maverick said and gulped, "your habit didn't end yet, right?" she said as she knew he self-harms himself when he gets frustrated by things.

"N-No, i slipped last night." he lied, "you should've be careful." he hummed at her words and soon she left after shutting the door.

he sat down in his bed and heaved a sigh of relief.

It was 8:30pm, Alethea was having dinner with her father and grandmother, everyone was quiet. Alethea wasn't eating well as she was thinking about the way she talked to her mother, she was thinking if she went too rough on her but the main thing that was worrying her was Maverick.

'did he hear me talking to mom?' was the only question roaming in her bed since she came back from university.

"Alethea." her father's voice made her come out from her thoughts, "Y-Yes, dad?" She asked suddenly, "did you meet someone on your way back university?" William questioned, Alethea looked at her grandmother and again looked at her father.

He was focused on cutting the grilled chicken in his plate with the fork and knife.

"N-No." She lied, "are you sure?" he looked at her with emotionless eyes, she could not make an eye contact with him but she nodded her head.

She was scared how would he react when he would find out that she met her mother, whom william hate the most.

"i trust you." he said, Alethea's heart broke when he said he trust her. She thought she was breaking her father's trust on her by lying and she knew that liars couldn't keep their lies for long, but she had no other choice to choose.

"mother, tomorrow night there's a party at Jacob's house, he invited us there." William informed granny, "why?" granny asked, "actually, his elder daughter Alba came back from England after a long time." he told granny as she nodded.

it was the evening while everyone at the party at Mendez house had arrived, but Jacob was only eagerly waiting for his university best-friend as he wasn't there yet.

Maverick in his bedroom was standing in-front of the mirror, putting on his black blazer over his white plain shirt, he was wearing a formal suit for today's get together. He sprayed his favourite cologne over his body and before his eyes landed on his knuckles which were still bandaged.

He gulped as everytime he looks at his knuckles, he remember Alethea. Even when he didn't want to remember her anymore or he didn't want to fall for her?

He came out from his room and walked down to the stairs at the big hall, where the rich people related to his step-father were gossiping and sipping on their wines, his hands were in his pockets when bella come towards him.

"You're looking so handsome, my dear." She complimented him, for which Maverick just curved his lips which wasn't a pleasing smile to give over a compliment. she was fixing his blazer when his eyes landed on the big entrance door.

His eyes light up seeing Alethea, indeed she was looking so gorgeous today, wearing a lavender tea-length dress, her hair untied and parted from between, a very little amount of make-up.

She looked delicate today, because she dressed up like a lady today not like a tomboy as she always dress up like a tomboy.

"Mav—" his mother was about to say something but when she looked at his face, his eyes were stuck on someone, she followed his eyes and saw a beautiful girl standing with an old lady and a man aged like Jacob.
