She sniffled on her running nose due to crying, while her father's eyes were gazing her.
"I believed what you told me since childhood, you told me that my mother was a disloyal and selfish woman who eloped with her lover leaving her daughter and husband behind without worrying about them, But have you ever told me that when she had a daughter, and wealth, and husband, then why did she have to run away with a man who wasn't stable with wealth?"
A painful gasp left the mouth of granny, which made her sit down in the couch as she could not hear those painful words from a daughter to a father but this time she will not stop Alethea saying all those bitter words, because it was the right time to say all these.
"You've gone mad." william tried to shake away the bitter truth that his daughter said, "I am. but dad, how could you be so selfish?" with that she walked towards the exit of the living room door.
But she stopped and turned around just to see her father still in the position she left him, as he was still processing the words she uttered.
"I'm not like mom, dad. I love Maverick and i will not marry Andrew." With that she walked upstairs to her bedroom, william threw himself back at the couch behind his knee backs. "i told you to stop, son, but you were so into your wealth and it sank you." said granny before walking in her bedroom too.
entering her bedroom, Alethea slammed the door shut as she was so stressed tonight. she clutched her hair in frustration and sat down at the corner of her bed, her tears fall down from her pretty dark brown eyes.

Maverick was riding his motorbike behind the car of Andrew as they were heading to university, Maverick tried to stop Andrew as he wanted to talk to him but Andrew was like he was avoiding Maverick.
"DREW! ANDREW!" Maverick ran behind Andrew while his pace was too fast, but soon Maverick was successful in pushing him back to his breaks and look into Maverick's eyes.
sitting at the abandoned cement bench of the backyards of university campus, Maverick looked in-front of himself at the tall palm trees while Andrew also stared at them while his hands crossed around his chest waiting for Maverick to speak back.
"Tha—"
"I'm sorry."
Andrew's sudden interrupted apology made Maverick look into his step-brother's eyes, while Andrew did the same back. Maverick wasn't expecting this now as it was unexpected but he felt so good after knowing that his step-brother finally apologised for what he did back then.
"I'm really very sorry for making you feel so bad, making you feel inferiority, i was just doing what dad told me, i never— i never thought by my own mind, i was—" Andrew bursted without even completing his sentence.
Maverick smiled before putting his hand on Andrew's shoulder and tapping it a bit, as Andrew sobbed hard with his head low.
"It's okay now, i knew that you never did all those hurtful acts on your own, it was your father behind that." with that they both hugged eachother and cried on their shoulders.

After ringing the bell of Alethea's house, benjamin stood there with a nervous face. holding the straps of his bag over his broad shoulders, he was wearing a pair of loose jeans and grey hoodie on his tall figure, with a pair of white nike shoes.
The door clicked opened revealing an old lady, her eyebrows knit when she saw the young man standing at her doorstep and soon his lips curved into an awkward smile after seeing the lady thinking that she must be alethea's grandmother.
"Hello, I'm Benjamin, Alethea's classmate." He introduced himself to the granny, granny let him inside and made him sit in the living room. "wait, I'll call Alethea." with that granny went upstairs to call Alethea, Benjamin waited there for the old lady to come down and inform him about her.
she came out and told him that Alethea was calling him upstairs to her bedroom.
"Have a seat, please." Alethea gestured Benjamin to sit down in the sofa in-front of hers, in her big bedroom. "Mr Darwin wanted me to give you this." He said extending Alethea's geography notebook that mr Darwin; their geography professor took from her for checking her notes.
"Oh, thank you.." she mumbled and put the notebook on the glass table between them, "why didn't you attend the university today?" he asked after thinking several time if he could ask it or not.
"Just, i wasn't feeling well." She said and sighed at the end, Benjamin nodded his head in agreement. "so— you— you finally confessed to Maverick." He said making her look into his eyes, while Benjamin just gulped down a big lump of his saliva.
"who told you about this?" she asked him, "Maverick." she inhaled and exhaled loudly before looking down at her lap which had her hands in it, and then nodded in yes.
after kissing his teeth audibly he spoke, "i felt good for you," she looked up at his face with her knitted brows, "that you were able to confess your love towards the person you love, while i— i couldn't even tell my love that i love her." he completed and curved his lips from the corner and shook her head in sadness.
"who was she?" Alethea asked curiously, he looked up at her eyes with his moistured ones. "A friend." he said, there was a pin drop silence between them for some pretty minutes.
