It was weekend. Alethea was sitting at a table in the whole quiet restaurant in which she called Jane to come and meet her just for once. And let's see how long will this 'once' will end.
she heard the door opening by a waiter as soon saw a middle-aged lady coming inside, Alethea couldn't take her eyes off from her mother after seeing her after 12 years, Jane made her way towards alethea and smiled at her.
"wow, you've grown up into a pretty young girl." Jane complimented with a proud smile on her lips, Alethea didn't give her a single piece of smile. Even when she wanted to tell her mother that she was still so pretty.
"have a seat, please." with that Alethea and her mother sat in-front of each-other, Alethea ordered two cups of coffee and when she was about to order some snacks her mother speak up, "pancakes." it used to be alethea's favourite snack when she was a kid.
"no, chocolate cake, please." the waiter nodded at Alethea's words and then walked away. While Jane just smiled looking at her empty lap.
"what do you want to say?" Alethea asked her coldly, "i want to apolo—" , "I've forgave you already, because i don't want to keep you in my head anymore." Alethea stated and gulped at the end.
"Alethea, I had forgotten him but when he came in front of me after marrying william, he once again enchanted me with his words, with his gentleness, with his care for me, and the love." Jane paused, "me and your father were arranged and i didn't want william to be my husband because i was already in love with Alexander." She added.
"Alexander?" Alethea asked about the name, "My present husband." Alethea smiled sarcastically when suddenly the waiter arrived and put the things on the table and left.
"but where am i in all this? you never missed me in these past 12 years!" Alethea exclaimed with knitted brows, "i did. and i asked Alexander to make me meet you once, but then i thought William will never let me meet you after what i did." Jane sniffed on her running nose and wiped tears by the tissue on the table.
"then how come you find me?" Alethea inquired, it took some minutes for Jane to speak up, "my d-daughter studies in your University but she's your junior and she told me about a girl who's suspicious, but rich, who have a impressive personality but cold tone when she speaks and her name is Alethea Sanz."
Alethea gulped a big lump after hearing that she had a daughter already with that man Alexander.
"Y-Your daughter..?" Alethea stuttered, "Yes, Jessica." She told Alethea the name of her daughter, Alethea nodded.
"i should leave now." Alethea stood up, "i-i feel happy for you that—" Alethea paused and smiled with tears in her eyes, "—that your running away turned out to be good for you." With that Alethea went out.
She sat in the cab and told the driver to drove at the café in which she met Maverick second time, he dropped her there and went away, she wanted to have a hot coffee really.
she pushed the door inside and the jingling sound could be heard, she looked up and saw Maverick looking at her already, he should be here at night but now in the evening at 4pm.
"I thought you only do night shifts." She said smiling, "Your order please?" He asked coldly, she wasn't expecting this from him but anyways.
"Today, two hot coffees, one for me and one for you—" , "no, thanks." he said rudely and started to make coffee.
she shrugged off and went to sit on her regular table, she kept her eyes on his every movement and he didn't even glance at her once, he was weird today.
He came to her finally with a tray in his hands, on which the cup of coffee was placed. He put the cup on the table when suddenly she spoke making him stop while his back facing her.
"Thanks for helping me." she thanked him because he took her to the nursing room when she collapsed, he turned around and looked directly into her eyes with his dark ones.
"If there was someone else in your place, I would do this with them too!" He spat coldly, making her flinch a bit by the sudden tone.
"what's wrong with your attitude!?" She yelled annoyingly, "why do i have to be good with you when I'm the baddest in others eyes! Huh! Stay away from me, I'm the brutal." He growled at her face.
and then walked back to the counter, while Alethea gulped as it was unacceptable, he was never like this with her, then why was he acting like this suddenly?
After a while of standing as he left her, she saw him coming back from the staff room and now his clothes were changed into his own ones, his nostrils were flattered signalling that he was mad at someone or something maybe it's her, she over-thought. he didn't give her a glance before walking out the cafe and rode his car away.
she sighed before looking down at the table where her coffee cup was placed, the steam wasn't coming out from it as it was already cold, she sighed again thinking how crazy she was to thank him.
'whats wrong with me? Why am I feeling so upset just by him being rude with me? Why do i care? I'm used to this rudeness from my own father then why HIS rudeness is making me feel so bad?'
she thought before, walking out and called the cab to get her back home.
