Alethea was sitting in the cafeteria which wasn't that much crowded as most of the students were went for playing in the ground as it was actually a game break, and she wasn't feeling like she want to go there and play instead she decided to read her favourite novel.
"excuse me, can i sit here?" she looked up from her book after hearing a male's soft voice, she never saw him there in the university before. "uh yeah, sure." she allowed and then as she saw him sitting in-front of her, she got back to reading.
"Faults in our stars." He spoke suddenly making her look up at him, and then caught her pointing at the book in her hands, actually he was reading out the name of the novel on which she nodded and smile awkwardly.
"it's interesting to read this book." he spoke smiling, his smile was pretty calming. his eyes were light blue, and his lips were pink overall he was like a baby a innocent one but was handsome.
"im Benjamin Wilson, I'm new here from the history department." he introduced himself to her, she closed her book and put that on the table in between. "I'm Alethea Sanz from history department too." She told him with a small smile on which he nodded.
"pretty name." he complimented with a chuckle, "um— if you don't mind, would you like to be my friend?" he asked, it was clear that he was a bit awkward, "i—" before she could speak, "it's totally fine if you don't want to be my friend, after all it's up to you." he smiled hopelessly.
she chuckled at his innocence, "no, it's okay. i would like to be your friend, cause i've never had one." she chuckled off the last few words making sure he didn't hear, and luckily he didn't.
From that day, Benjamin and Alethea started to do a little conversation in the cafeteria on several topics like studies and other causual ones because she distant herself away from Maverick after the party that was at his house and the conversation they both had at the rooftop.
it was obviously hard for her to do this, because the bond she shared with him was the bond she never shared with anyone. she used to feel like it's okay to not be okay when he was with her, but she knew that she can't force someone to be with her only for herself.
on the other hand, Maverick was regretting after that night talk on the rooftop, when he was watching her distancing herself from him. she didn't even make an eye contact with him or never talk to him even when they were pretty close to each-other.
The feelings they both were feeling were strange because they never felt like this for anyone before but their hearts were completely denying to forget each-other as if they've never had a relation.
"Hey." Benjamin whispered while sitting down in the chair in-front of Alethea in the library, on which she just smiled. "how are you?" he asked her in a whisper again, "good, you?" she asked him back as he just nodded opening his book.
Maverick came inside the library and his eyes landed on Alethea, who was talking while smiling with the new guy who just admitted in the university she was looking glad with him.
"what's wrong, rick?" suddenly Kavin from behind asked Maverick, making him come out from his jealousy. "n-nothing."
—
it was 2:15am, Maverick couldn't sleep, today he did not go to his night shift at the cafe instead he took a night off. it was his routine that he only takes naps but can't sleep, he was right now in the garden of his step-father's house.
he was alone awake at this time, while everyone was already asleep, there was a second thing that was bothering him and preventing him to not go to sleep was Alethea, her sitting in the library with a new guy was strange for Maverick.
he didn't know why was he feeling so bad after seeing her with him, even when he had admitted that he has no feelings for her; love.
"Rick?"
a familiar female voice made him look at behind, and it was his sister in her night dress, holding a water bottle in her hands.
"Oh," He gasped after seeing her there, it was a sudden appearance so he was a bit surprised. "what are you doing here? you should sleep." she said as she stood in-front of him, him being tall still.
"nothing." he sighed, "really?" she asked softly raising her brows, "im sorry, im sorry for being rude with you in the morning." Maverick apologised to Alba as she shook her head and smiled, "it's okay." she said, and he hugged her for a moment and the pulled away.
on the other hand, Alethea was sitting in her garden too, sipping on her hot coffee, she was craving for the coffee made by Maverick at the café but she didn't want him to see her again as he wanted to distant himself from her because of the relation her father and his step-father share.
she knew she was gaining a weird feeling for him, but she was scared if it was love?
She did not want to fall for a guy who wanted her to stay away from him, just on a freaking stupid reason.
