– 12:38am.
While yawning lazily, Maverick heard the door bell jingling signalling that someone had entered the shop-cum-cafe.
"wel— You?" Maverick asked confused after seeing the Alethea there, "why. can't i come here?" she stated coldly, "when did I say that." He mumbled, "pardon?" she asked, "i asked, what do you want?" Maverick demanded her order.
"not want but need." deep. it was so deep. Maverick loved her words, the way she states deep thoughts casually was so impressive for Maverick but he knew he shouldn't be so frank with her as he was a shopkeeper right now and she was a customer only.
"A hot milk coffee." She ordered, "alright, you may have a seat there." Maverick said pointing at the tables placed in-front of the counter, she nodded before walking towards one of the table which was beside the glass wall so she could watch the dark roads.
she used to come here almost twice a week but she had never seen Maverick there before, maybe he was new or it was his first time of night shift, the second reason was correct; it was his first night shift.
"Here." she looked up and saw Maverick with a tray and a plain white cup which their logo printed on it, he put the cup on the table. "Enjoy." He said faking a smile, when he was about to leave she made him stop.
"Can you sit?" He turned around with knitted brows, "You've nothing to do right now, right?" she inquired, he sighed and nodded after awhile he sat in-front of her in the table.
"I'm come here usually but I've never seen you here, you must be new?" she asked him after gulping the hot liquid down to her throat, "Yeah, it's only been two weeks." Maverick replied.
"You were correct that as long as we, ourselves do not forget our past, we will not be able to make others forget it." Maverick hummed, "but what made you think like this?" she questioned him, he smiled looking outside of the glass.
"I want this, dad!" Little Andrew demanded his dad for the toy car placed in a toy shop of a big mall, "Really, my little champ want this?" Jacob asked after kneeling down to the level of Andrew.
while little Maverick was watching the father-son moment silently, hoping that his step-father will also ask him if he wanted someone or not.
"d-dad.." Maverick called his step-father, Jacob's expressions changed when he look at Maverick from his real son Andrew. "What?" Jacob asked harshly, "i-i also want this toy car." Maverick pointed at the other toy car.
"Shut up. When Andrew will be satiated with this toy car then he will give it to you, understand!?" The man growled into little Maverick's ears as he nodded immediately because he was scared of his step-father.
Present Maverick smiled after thinking about the moment from his past, while Alethea kept looking at him as he was smiling like crazy but it was saddest smile ever.
"You know what the advises we give others, are the advises which we never tried." Maverick chuckled at the end of his sentence, and he was correct this time too. "People thinks that the daughter of William Sanz is the most happiest girl," Alethea laughed sadly.
"But poor them don't know money isn't the only thing essential for survival." She added and sighed at end, she stood up grabbing her phone from the table and gulping the last sip from the coffee.
"then what is the other thing essential for survival?" He questioned her as she stood up, he stood up and they both looked at each-other's eyes.
"Family. Love. Care." with that she walked out from the café, leaving Maverick alone sitting at the table and he watched her sitting in her car and the driver driving away.
There's absolutely a huge difference between want and need, nowadays people runs after their wants thinking that they are their needs.
