Benjamin left from her house, leaving her alone sitting at the sofa where he left her sitting. he was a good guy to be mentioned, he was so gentle and caring towards alethea even when it only had some days of them becoming friends but still he was so nice.
"Alethea.." she turned her head around to see her father standing at the door, she looked in-front again at the place from where Benjamin just sat and walked away, william came and sat in-front of Alethea.
He exhaled a deep breathe before looking up at her face, she wasn't even sparing him a glance rather she crossed her hands around her chest and just wanted him to speak up and leave.
"i don't know how to say but," after licking his lower lip which was dry, "I'm sorry, Ale." she shot her head at her father's face, her expressions were surprised that her father was apologising. How?
"i know it's weird, but i was never a good father, i could never make you feel like a princess, i was so careless, my dear." He gulped at the end, "as far as about Jane, yes, i lied to you that she wasn't loyal to me, i kept you in dark and I'm not surprised that now you know the truth because i knew that one day you will get to know about this."
He stopped to collect some breaths, "it's up to you, if you want to be with Maverick then—" he paused and stood up from the couch, "—i won't stop you." with that he was about to walk away but Alethea stopped him saying.
"why you changed suddenly?"
he turned around to look at her face with a small fainted smile over his lips.
"it's not suddenly, when i got to know that you were meeting jane since past few days i started to feel shame because i thought i could fulfill my daughter's needs after her mother left her, but she needed her mother still, i don't know why am I this jealous when it comes to you—"
"Because you're my father." Alethea said cutting her father, he gasped when he heard her say this. her eyes were brimmed with tears as she hugged her father immediately and the hug was deep and the duration crossed 5 minutes as it was after a long time.
—
"it's really hard to get together again as married couples, ale." said Jane while looking down at her lap where her hands rest, and Alethea looking at Jane's face with her blank eyes and jammed lips.
"i know but can I come go meet you and Jessica if her father won't mind?" Alethea asked gently after taking a deep breath, Jane's lips curved into a small smile with her moist eyes.
"Alex would never have any objection in you visiting our home." Jane said with a small final smile on her lips, she looked like she got a price bond today because her daughter was now sitting in-front of her after a very long time and they were talking like the usual mother-daughter and it heals jane so much.
Alethea was a bit hurt by the word her mother used in her statement and that was— our home, the our home should be with Alethea, william, granny and Jane but unfortunately it was now used for— Jessica, Alex and Jane.
but after all she collected herself and smiled at her mother, her hand was in her mother's hand until they were headed home. they were like some mother daughter who were lost in a fare a long ago and now met coincidentally.
—
Alethea was walking towards her class while she was in currently walking in the corridor, there weren't much students but some were just gossiping while standing at the corner. while looking for maverick her eyes caught someone else who made her smile and it was Benjamin.
"Ben! hey!" she exclaimed happily while walking in-front of him making him stop and look up at her from some papers in his hands on which he was checking something.
he was a decent guy, who always preferred wearing flannel check shirts over some plain t-shirts inside and with a pair of converse. he was such a kind of innocent and pretty dumb whom anyone can trick, but he was confident who can give speech on any topic on the stage among the whole university.
"Oh, hi." He gasped and gave a smile at Alethea, she looked down at the papers in his hands and then looked at him again before asking, "what are these?" she asked him confused, "these..." he paused and look down at the papers, he took some pretty much time to speak back.
"I'm— I'm leaving."
"what?" she asked him confused, "like, you're leaving the university, like forever?" asked him, he pressed his lips together before nodding his head in agreement.
"are you— but why!?" she whinned with gestured hands in 'why', he looked away from her face while her eyes were stuck on his face, "it's getting hard for me to keep my studies up here." he spoke, it was strange. Some days before he was saying, the university was so good.
"Benjamin, you told me that your studies are going good here." she said with annoyed voice, he nodded his head again, "i did. but how long does it take for things to change." benjamin said shrugging his shoulders, "You're saying it as if its not a big deal." Alethea said angrily.
"it is. but i don't have a choice, my love, i have to go or— or I'll do something that won't even make me look at myself." his words were deep indeed, "we are friends!" she raised her voice, "i know, i know, and we will always be friends, cariño, but please, let me go for your sake, for my sake and for everybody's sake."
after he completed his sentence, she didn't waste a time to hug him tightly and he also hugged her gently before caressing her head to calm her down.
"I'm sorry, Amigo, goodbye." with that he walked away leaving Alethea alone watching him in the corridor.
