When Our Paths Crossed

Chapter 7

When we got home, I grabbed Mia and ran upstairs to my room. "Start talkingg." I said taking my dress off in my walk-in closet and wearing my rose gold silky pajamas

"Okay, calm down." Mia said laughing. "Can I at least get changed." She said holding her dress. "Fine, but come straight to my room." I said pointing at her.

I washed my face then after a few minutes Mia walked in, wearing her  silky pajamas with her hair up. I was in my bed waiting for her.

"Nicholas Kade is a 28-year-old man who lives in Hawaii, his family owns a chain of hotels all over the world so his super-rich, richer than us." I shake my head. "All you care about is money Mia." She looks at me as if I'm crazy. "I was just stating a fact." She said shrugging her shoulders.

"He kept his love life on the low, nobody ever knows who he's dating but what we do know is that his Mum is always trying to get him in a relationship with girls that she likes and approves of."

Well, that's annoying. "But his always rejecting them, Nicholas is very intimidating, people are afraid of him but he showed us a completely different side of him. He was smiling at you, he rarely does that." Mia said thinking about what she just said.

"The good thing is that I've never heard any scandals about him, so I approve, you better say yes if he asks you out." She said poking my shoulder.

"Ouch." I said rubbing the spot she just poked. "Imagine Nicholas Kade my brother-in-law, a dream come true." She said holding her hands together looking up closing her eyes.

"Sorry to disappoint you Mia, but that's not happening." I said putting on Netflix. "Yeah it is, you guys are attracted to each other stop denying it." She said wiggling her eyebrows.

"Okay Mia thank you for the information, now can we please watch The Winx Saga season Two, it  came out yesterday." I said sitting up. "Okay wait, don't play it let me go get some snacks."

"Please bring ice cream!" I said to her as she left my room. "You know I would never forget that." She said making me laugh.

We finished watching season two and decided to play music and just chat. Mia was telling me about what's been happening at her school and this new boy she has a crush on. I'm glad she was born if she wasn't I would be so lonely. I don't have any friends as we speak she's my only best friend.

We spoke until it was so late and we started drowsing off to sleep.

I was woken up by a loud sound, it was my alarm fuck this thing is loud. I switched it off and set up. Mia was sleeping peacefully beside me. I got up and went to my bathroom and took a shower and brushed my teeth.

I wrapped a towel around my body and head. When I walked into my room Mia was still sleeping, so I took my phone and started playing my alarm in her ear.

"Stop!" She said getting up. "Why must you ruin my sleep." She said rubbing her eyes. "Go take a shower Mia we gonna have breakfast soon." I said drying my hair.

She was still so sleepy, we slept so late last night, she got up and wore one slipper and walked in the direction of my toilet I had to grab her and lead her to her room which was across mine.

I decided to wear a short white sundress with strawberries on it with my sandals. Mum came to tell me that breakfast was ready.

We were having breakfast outside, today is such a beautiful day the sky is blue the birds are chirping the temperature is just right.

"You look gorgeous today Emily you glowing any reason for that?" Mum asked smiling. "She met the Nicholas Kade yesterday of course she's glowing." Mia said after shoving a slice of mango in her mouth.

"No I'm just in a good mood this morning it's not because of Nicholas." I said drinking my orange juice. Dad got up and walked into the house then came back with none other than Nicholas Kade. "Good morning ladies." He said sitting next to me. Shit, I thought he was coming over for dinner.

"Glad you could join us for breakfast  Nicholas I know it was shot notice." Mum said smiling at him. "Help yourself." She said pointing at the food on the table. "Thank you Mrs. Davis. He said placing pancakes on his plate. "Oh no call me Nora." Mum said smiling.

"There's something I forgot to tell you yesterday Emily." Dad said sitting down next to Mum. "You and Nicholas are going on a business trip." He said and I choked on the orange juice I was drinking. And started coughing like I was dying.

Nicholas started hitting my back, Mia was doing the same. Mum and Dad got up from their chairs. "Oh sweetie are you okay." Mum said holding my shoulders. "Pour some water for her Luke she's dying." Mum said being dramatic as always.

I got up leaning against the wall taking a deep breath. I was probably so pink. "Oh my God I almost died." I said holding my chest. Dad gave Nicholas the glass of water to give me. "Thanks." I said and drank the water. Nicholas was smiling at me as if he was trying to hold in a laugh so were Mia and Dad. Mum seemed to be the only one concerned.

"What did you just say Dad?" I asked sitting down. "You and Nicholas are going on a business trip." He said. "Why can't you go Dad?" I asked wiping my hands. "I have a lot going on in the company so you have to go." Oh God save me. "How many days will we be gone?"

"Five weeks you guys need to look at the place where we going to build the new building and make sure we won't be chopping off a lot of trees. We'll be giving them the resources to do this and we'll be mentoring every step." Five weeks with Nicholas I'm dead.

"Emily, so is that a yes?" Dad asked getting up." Yeah I'll go." Well, I don't have a choice. Mum, Dad and Mia were heading inside when Nicholas whispered in my ear. "You scared to be alone with me Emily?" He said sending goosebumps all over my body and waking up the butterflies in my stomach.

"N....No why would I be scared to be alone with you." I said looking at him. Our faces were close he's eyes drifted to my lips then my eyes. "I don't know, why did you choke on your juice?" He asked looking at my face as if he was trying to memorize it. "Don't worry I don't bite." He said smirking and getting up walking into the house.

I released a breath I didn't know I was holding. This man is going to be the death of me I said to myself getting up.
