Chapter 20 - Meetup

When Natsuki had nearly completed her assignments for the night, something immediately pinged her. "Shit, I forgot to meet up with Isekai! Hopefully he forgot too, it'd be embarrassing if the person who invited the others never ever showed up...!" she realizes, quickly finishing her work, then rolling her chair over to reach her phone.

She goes into her contacts and texts Isekai.

"dude, you there? i forgot to meet up with u to discuss your whole plan thing with hiatari-chan and mc-kun"

"Oh, yeah, forgot about that as well. I'll meet you at the address after midnight. I'm too busy working right now"

"alright ill be there at about 12:15"

"Sounds good."

"Well, at least he also forgot," Natsuki thought, a bit relieved. Following that, she decided to have a nap on her bed to rack up energy before her alarm started ringing.

11:50 PM

Natsuki wakes up to the sound of her alarm. She shuts it off, and checks the bedroom for her father. He isn't present there. She sighs, and changes into some clothes. Before picking up her bag, she notices that it was raining, so she took her raincoat with her. Ready to go, she gets on her bike, and rides off into the night, but not before she puts a fake double on her bed, consisting of a pastel pink wig, a realistic and well-drawn sleeping face on a wooden sphere, painted to resemble her fair skin, and a bunch of bean bags to create a fake body with her shorts and shirt fit over them.

In the city, Natsuki stopped at an alley and walked into it. She sat down, and waited for her clubmates by looking at social media posts. She keeps looking, and looking, trying to entertain herself until those three arrive.

At around 12:09, she hears an engine come close, and then stop. Isekai, MC and Sayori walk into the alley, wearing sweaters or raincoats to cover themselves from the rain. "So, what'dya wanna tell them?" he asks.

"Alright, I'll make this quick since I can tell you three want to go to sleep. I already know about your entire scheme to help out our President, and I want in on it. My only condition is that in no circumstance will you tell my dad," she tells them, crossing her arms. Sayori shrugs, and nods in agreement. "Yeah, sure," Masahiro replies.

"Wait, that easily?" she questions, shocked. "Yeah. Only problem is, you're gonna have to commit to some serious plans we're making. There's someone we're trying to hunt, since there's no way we can talk them down," Masahiro tells her. Natsuki agrees regardless. "Alright, so be it, then. Welcome to the team, Natsuki," Isekai greets her, shaking her hand.

"Well, I'll be off," he says as he leaves the alley. Sayori and Masahiro follow him, and hop up onto his motorcycle. He starts the ignition, and starts taking himself and his friends back home. Natsuki sighs, and hops up onto her bike and starts pedaling. She stops cold when she the rain stops and she starts hearing footsteps.

She immediately hides herself, and listens out. "You rose up the ranks real quickly, sir," a person says. "Yeah, becoming one of his lieutenants was easier than I thought. I still wish I could have made things right, though. It's too late for me to fix things with *her,* but I can at least try to lead my daughter to a better life, and the money that this job awarded was no doubt my ticket to finally getting my shit together," another man says.

They keep on going with their conversation. Soon after their voices completely fade, she feels safe and continues her ride home. However, Natsuki couldn't stop thinking about what the latter man said. "I still wish I could have made things right, though. It's too late for me to fix things with *her,* but I can at least try to lead my daughter to a better life, and the money that this job awarded was no doubt my ticket to finally getting my shit together."

"Hmm... I wonder if my dad thinks like that now... life at home's been more bearable lately."
