The next rank : Chunnin Exams

Once we returned to the village , my mother immediately dismissed us as she rushed off to the Hokage's office .  At first we exchanged confused expressions , after all she never does that , it was completely out of the blue and odd behavior . Takashi decided to head on home to get some rest,  Kaede praised the idea but grumbled " if I want to a better healer I need to work harder , I'm going to the library . Sora do you want to come with ?"

I chuckled "no I'm okay , after the last encounter with the library I'm going to steer clear from it for a short while .  Word of advice , don't stay longer than the closing hours " . Kaede seemed confused by my warning but ultimately nodded and walked to the library  , I turned and walked . I didn't consider where I was going or what I was going to do for the rest of the day ,my mind began to wonder about my mother's strange act earlier , I happened to notice some ninja with head bands of the Village hidden in the sand . That's when realization hit me like a ton of bricks , mother's sudden disappearance , genin from other villagers ...the chunnin exams !

Of course , it all made sense now . Our village was preparing for the chunnin exams , mother and the other Jonin were summoned for a debrief and probably candidate selections .  The sand genin seemed to be busy with team 7 and some younger children , the air seemed tense especially when that red head appeared out of nowhere.  I considered joining the conversation but decided against it , don't need to provoke them until I know more .

They seemed done discussing whatever they were discussing and turned to leave but they stopped when the spotted me , Naruto looked over their shoulder at me " Oh Sora !" . Naruto was really strange , how was he always so chipper even in a tense situation like that ? Did he even feel the thick air of suspense or did he ignore it completely?

The blonde girl smiled " hi ~" , confused I greeted back "uh , hello ?" . The red head eyed me "Sora ...Sora Yamanaka,  Ao's son ?" . This peaked my interest "you know me ?" . The man dressed in black with face paint spoke " not really but your mom is from our strongest wind release clans , every sand genin knows about Ao Wynnd and her wind type kekkai genkai , Wynnd Wings "

This was all new information to me , yes I knew my mother was from the sand village but I didn't know that she was part of their stronger clans and I definitely had no idea that she possessed a kekkai  genkai ! Face paint boy smirked " it'll be interesting to see what Ao's son is capable of , I look forward to seeing you fight " , the red head didn't say anything but the look in his eyes were clear , excitement and bloodlust . I felt the hairs on my neck rise at this guy's gaze , my entire body was on alert around him like every cell of my being could sense that something wasn't quite right with this dude .

The group walked passed me as I watched them leave , Naruto suddenly ran up to me and smiled " whoa you were so cool , not even showing a hint of fear or anything " , Naruto completely lost me again . I was a genius but this guy made me feel stupid especially when he gives no context to his sentences,  Sakura walked up to me " Sora , are you back from a mission  ?" .

" yeah we just returned actually , I honestly didn't expect to return home and run into a bunch of Sand ninja . " Naruto folded his arms " what was that guy's problem anyways , he acted like a big shot " . Sasuke didn't comment as he looked straight at me , like he was trying to assess me . Sakura then spoke breaking my train of thought "Sora , want to have dinner together later ? Just the two of us ?"

I looked at Sakura but before I could give her an answer,  Naruto chimed in "why just the two of you ? can I join please? ", Sakura glared at him with annoyance which actually made me pity the guy , Sakura has some scary aura to her that seems to really put Naruto down . Does she have anger issues that I havent noticed yet  ?

I smiled softly at Sakura " sorry but I just got back from traveling,  honestly I'm just going to go home ,  rain check for next time ?"

Sakura seemed disappointed but gave a polite smile "yeah sure " , I smiled "thanks , see ya " I waved to them and walked home . I could practically hear my bed calling my name , I needed a wonderful nap to end this day . Suddenly a foreign ninja appeared infornt of me and demanded that I avoid the chunnin exams and even threatened to harm me , but the way he was standing and addressing me gave off a different vibe to what he was trying to say . I smiled noticing the deception " Sure Iruka sensei , you do that "

He stumbled abit with his words " what are you talking about ! I'm going to break you arms !" , I chuckled " sure , how about tomorrow after breakfast  , sound good Iruka sensei ?". I gave him the look of utter amusement,  he sighed heavily and undid his jutsu revealing himself . " You are good , how did you know ?"

" your mannerisms,  there is only one Iruka sensei I know that talks like that  , good night sensei " I greeted before going inside my house and crashing onto my bed , ahh home sweet home.
