When I wake up I have a strange feeling. I have never understood the term "butterflies in the stomach" but I can imagine that it would feel something like this.
I look at the black hoodie laying on the floor and I debate whether to put it on or not. I end up choosing not. Instead I put it in the laundry basket. I wouldn't want to return it smelly or dirty.
"Good morning sweetie." my mom's voice wake me up from my daze.
"Morning mom."
"Oh honey, whenever you feel ready to talk about that boy, I want you to know that I'm here." She says and brings me into a hug. What?
"Mom! What boy!? I just woke up. Please just....No!" What is she on? I am ugly and tired and she decides to talk about boys. That's my mom right there.
As I enter the school, the first person I see is Paul. Crap. And he sees me.
"Hello there Lola." I can't quite see if he is mad or unknowing about the earlier events.
"Hi Paul. How are you?"
"I'm fine. I've got a bit of a headache and I don't remember much from yesterday, but I'll survive."
"Thats great news!" I say a bit too happily. I wasn't meant to say that out loud.
"What?"
"I mean it's great news that you will survive, not that you don't remember yesterday. That's a shame actually. Yesterday was a good day."
"You're acting weird." Paul says with a confused look on his face. I can understand where he's coming from.
"Pfft. No I'm not, silly! But I am late for class. Bye" I say. I'm not late really, I just wanted to get away from Paul before either I said something stupid or he got too close, which ever would come first.
When I enter the french classroom, I'm the first one there. I wonder why Harry isn't here yet. He's always the first one in. Well this means that I can choose any seat that I want. This is luxury on a high level.
I feel brave and therefore I sit down on Harry's fave seat. I wonder why he loves it so much. I should ask some time.
"Well, well, well. Look who is here earlier than usual. Harry's voice breaks the silence."
"I'm not here earlier than usual. You are here later than usual." I quickly respond.
"Whatever." He walks up to the front of the class and when he's close enough to see that I'm on his seat a smile forms on his lips.
"Oh Lola... Sweet little Lola. Don't you know what happens to people who steal?" He asks. I know that he is joking, but I can't help feeling a little scared.
"What have I ever stolen?" I ask with a surprised look of innocence.
"My seat! Get off!" He says and stomp his foot like a little boy whose toy has been stolen.
"No! I got here first." I say with an equal amount of childiness in my voice.
"Oh well, I guess there is nothing I can do then...." He walks back and forth behind me.
".....except this!" He starts tickling me and tries to pull me off the chair. Our laughters fill the room.
"Stop! I deserve to sit here." When the words leave my mouth he immediately stops dead in his tracks.
"What reason do you have to sit on the great chair?" He asks and makes his voice funny when saying "the great".
"You make me look like a crazy stalker in front of your friends by saying that you didn't know me!" I tell him with a firm voice.
"Well I saved the life of your fingers." He responds with an almost angry voice, but I can tell he is far from serious.
"My fingers would have been fine." He gives away a laugh and I respond with another laugh. Then Paul walks into the room and sits down next to me on the other side.
No. I don't want this happy playful Harry to go away again. I don't like the dark and rude version of him as much. To my surprise he leans in and whisper in my ear.
"Fine. We'll take the seat every other time. You can have it today." I look at him and he still smiles.
"Deal."
The class goes on but I find it hard to focus on Monsieur Messina. Once in a while I glance over at Harry and he looks back at me. My face forms the dorkiest of smiles and I'm embarrassed of myself.
When I've got my head down my notebook and my colored pens all over the place, I could feel Harry's eyes on me.
"Merci pour aujourd'hui. Tu peux y aller." Our teacher dismisses us. Harry and I stand up at the same time and we accidentally end up very close to each other with our faces only centimeters apart. Neither one of us move or say any thing. A girl in the back then break the silence.
"Ugh. Get a room."
He smiles and I bite down my lip to keep myself from doing something inappropriate. Harry's face comes closer to mine and when our foreheads meat I panic.
"Wow. Look at the time, I've gotta go." I say and leave the room, leaving Harry standing there.
