I hurry out of the building when the day is over and Tim is right behind. I told him I'd give him a ride to work today since he had walked to school today. I didn't bother asking why he did, but I could easily tell that he was begging me for a ride when he kept talking about how time consuming and annoying it was that he had to walk home and get his car. I kind of wanted him to shut his mouth and so I told him I could drive him. Tim is a great friend, but he can be so much at times and I can't stand it. Like how he always knows what's best for me and how everyone that isn't like him is bad news. Since he noticed that Harry and I had "something" he's been constantly telling me about everything bad he's done and how his type of people is (which according to him is a disappointment to human kind).
I'm feel relieved when I pull up on the parking lot outside of the sports center. We get out of the car and walk towards the pool and gym part of the center. We walk into our changing rooms and change clothes. My schedule says that my first hour is gym and then I've got two hours of pool time (no life guarding today though) and lastly I have to clean. I'm very excited for the pool hours today because I'm going to help Tina with the children's group (she just broke her arm so she can't swim poor thing).
I change into my gym clothes and lock up my regular clothes. When I get into the gym I'm surprised to see that it's pretty much full. Usually it's rather dead this hour, oh well.
"Hey Lola!" I turn around and see Oona coming my way. I've never seen her here before.
"Oh hi Oona." I simply say. I see how her eyes scan me.
"Wait. Do you work here?" She asks with a hint of jealousy in her voice.
"Uhm yeah I do" I chuckle lightly.
"Oh lucky you. This is so much cooler than my job at the fro yo place." She drifts off. "Anyway I want to talk to you about something." She says and becomes serious.
"Oh okay. Go ahead. Talk." I say. This is probably the first time she's ever talked to me alone.
"Sooo. I know you have eyes for Paul and that is absolutely understandable, I mean he's hot. Getting to the point. I like him, Like a lot, and I think that he really likes me too." I nod understandingly but inside I'm crying from laughter.
"Really what I wanted to ask you is.... Do you think maybe you could, you know.... Stay away from him a little?" She says. She tries to sound confident and cool and straight forward, but that doesn't really work out for her."Oh Oona. I didn't know you felt like that. Of course I'll back off. I mean, we're friends right?" I speak like the other fake girls in our school do and it seems to work.
"Thanks Lola. I knew you would understand!" She says and brings me into a hug. After that she waves at me and leaves. Through the glass to the pools I see Tim and he mouth what the heck. I laugh and shrugs in response.
Later I check the time and notice that it's almost time for me to do my pool shifts. I leave the gym and walk into the changing rooms to change into my bathing suit and shorts. I hate being barefoot but those are the rules. In there I bump into Tina.
"Tina I'm nervous." I say with a smile. Tina is like an older sister. She's super nice and gives great sisterly advice. She's about 27 I think, she's a quite bit larger than and she's got long dark brown hair and a face covered with freckles.
"Don't worry. It will be great. The kids aren't that bad and they can already swim all of them. All we have to do is to keep them occupied for 90 minutes." She says and we leave the changing room.
The children arrive with their parents and then the parents leave (probably to the cafeteria). Tina sits on the edge of the pool and I stand beneath her.
When all the kids are there we do a name game just to introduce them to me and vise versa. I'm not the best at names so I remember three or four of the children's names. I know it's wrong, but I immediately get three favorites. A cute boy called Daniel that I know for sure will look great when he gets older, a blonde girl called Lo who looks like a little troll with her knotty hair and a shy girl with my sisters name, Dora. Tina said that Dora never speaks to anyone but as soon as the name game is finished she comes to me and grabs my hand.
When thirty minutes has passed Tina leaves for a checkup on her arm and she leaves me alone with the kids, but I don't mind. I get out of the pool to demonstrate the easiest way to learn how to dive when I accidentally walk into someone and fall on my ass. The kids all start to laugh and even Dora smiles. I look up to see who knocked me over and I meet a familiar gaze."Lola. What are you..... Do you work here?" He just stands there looking down at me like he's in chock. I feel someone else's hands on my waist helping me up from the wet ground.
"Sorry Lola. This one doesn't have any manners. I think you may already know that." Niall helps me up from the ground and makes sure I'm fine while Harry just keeps staring at me like I'm some strange animal.
"Are you teaching these kids how to swim?" Niall asks looking at the children and then back at me.
"No! We already know how to swim!" A boy who's name I can't remember screams at Niall.
"Sorry man." Niall smiles.
"Well we're not going to be disturbing your class anymore. See you later." Niall says and leaves.Harry however doesn't leave. He keeps standing there staring. I look into his eyes with an angry look. It feels like we stand like that for hours. His eyes flash with anger and then he walks past me.
