By the pool I have one hour as a cleaner and one hour as a lifeguard and the first hour is cleaning. I prefer cleaning first because then you are finished with the boring part quickly and 90% out of 100% the only thing you do as a lifeguard here is sitting still so that's nice. Also what's good about cleaning first is that someone is going to clean after you so you don't have to do everything super neatly.

The hour goes by quickly and before I know it it's time to change into my lifeguard outfit. Actually, I wouldn't call it an outfit, it's just a white swimsuit and a pair of black shorts. And no, it't not one of those sexy swimsuits, this one is very ugly and the female workers here have to wear shorts too because "we cannot bee too attractive" (quoting Marie).

After sitting in the lifeguard chair for about 25 minutes my best friend in the world enters the room with a few of his doorky swimming club friends and as soon as he sees me his face lights up and he shouts across the room.

"Babe! Hey! I forgot that you work here now. Pleasant surprise though, maybe I'll come here more often now." Oh gosh I dislike him strongly.

"Oh. Hi Paul. What's up?" I really don't care.

"Not much. The boys and I have our weekly swim practice today so, yeah." He says proudly. Oh my god.

"Cool." I say and look away.

"Why don't you get down from there so I can talk to ya hun?" He says and says "hun" extra loud. Wow he's lost.

"Sorry. I'm working. I have to make sure that nobody drowns on my watch." I tell him sounding quite rude. This guy can't take a hint.

"I must say that you look very sexy in those clothes." He smirks. All of a sudden I wish my shorts were longer and didn't show so much skin. I don't answer. I don't know what to say so I just give him a weak smile saying "please stop you are making a fool out of yourself".

"Well I'm gonna get into the water now. Let's hope that I don't drown so you'll have to do mouth to mouth." He says and winks to me and for a moment I strongly wish that he'll drown while I blink or something.

"Hey Lola! Thanks for covering for me but I can take over now." Tim comes walking towards me. I didn't cover for him. He has the gym now. I climb down from the chair and walk to him.

"Uhm Tim thi...." He cuts me off in a whisper.

"Take the gym. I'll take care of your babe." He smiles and I feel very thankful.

"Thank you so much." I say and hurry into the locker room. I need to change to the gym clothes since I also have two gym shifts after this. I really don't mind at all. The gym is my favorite part of the job and the clothes are much nicer. The colors are the same (black and white) but still. All workers in the gym section wear a rather tight white t-shirt and black shorts that go about mid-thigh. Then we all wear white socks and black shoes.

I don't have to do too much in the gym either. I haven't worked here long enough to get to take the personal trainer course so right now I clean up after people, I help with the machines if they are struggling and I give tips to people to keep them from hurting themselves. A few times I have been asked stuff like "how do I work out this part of my body" and "how do I loose weight without building too much muscles" etc. Those are my favorite type of questions because I really like answering them. Then we have the questions like "does Charlie work today" and "where is the toilet". They are not too fun.

Today is my long day which means that I end at 9 and the gym closes at 10. On weekends I sometimes work longer but not as late. Surprisingly today has been awfully calm. Usually the gym is packed at this hour, but right now there are five people here and I'm compeletly useless because no one really needs my help.

"Lola?" Someone yells from behind and I turn around to see who needs me. It's Marie.

"Yeah. Is everything alright." I ask. She looks a bit stressed out.

"Sweetie, it looks bery calm here. Could you take the desk for a while? My daugher just called and she needs me quickly. It would be very helpful." Her eyes are begging and I am not very busy anyway, plus, if I can get some extra credit from my boss that's just great.

"Sure, absolutely. Go ahead, I'll cover for you." I smile

"Thank you so much Lola. Tim closes tonight so you can leave a little past nine." She says and runs off. Okay so I'm gonna take the counter now. That can't be that hard. Charge people when they enter, wave goodbye when they leave, answer questions and tell how much time there is before closing in the speakers. I don't think I need to change clothes for this so I just leave the gym and take a seat at the front desk. Wow I feel powerful.

The time is currently 8:07 and I've helped no one so far. I stand up and head towards the toilet. Just as I'm about to sit down and do my buisness someone rings the bell. Of cource the only person coming here this late comes when I need to pee. I hurry out of the bathroom without peeing and run to the desk again.

"Hey. Welcome to...." I don't look up until I get cut off.

"Hi.... Lola, right?" Someone asks. I look up and see a familliar face. Ah right! It's Sally's date. What was his name again? Nate? He must have seen my frustration because he answers for me.

"Niall" He smiles.

"Oh yeah right! Or course! I knew that! How are you?" I say as I feel my face turning very red.

"I'm very well thank you. And you?" He politely answers. He looks very badass with his black clothes and piercings here and there, but he really isn't like that at all.

"I didn't know you worked here." He says and hands me his membership card.

"Ah, I'm new. I've just been here over a week or so." He looks confused.

"Oh. That's weird because I haven't seen you and I'm here every other day or so....... Oh well..." He shakes off the thinking look and walks towards the changing rooms. "I better get started since you guys close in an hour. I'll see you later Lola." He says and walks off and I give my best go at running to the toilet again.

Niall really is polite and easy to talk to. It feels like he's an old friend even though we've met like twice. I'm not gonna name names, but that's more than you can say about someone else I know....
