When I woke up this morning I didn't feel nearly as tired as yesterday, that's positive. I drove to school early enough for me to find my way to class without being late. When I enter the first class there are only a few students in the room, but no one on the first row, so there's where I take a seat. After a few moments a girl sits down next to me.
"Hi there. You are new, huh? I saw you yesterday, but I didn't recognize you. My name is Sally btw. What's your name?" She says cheery. She has got a lot of energy considering it's eight in the morning.
"Erm, hi. Yes I'm new. My name is Lola, nice to meet you." I say and actually mean it. I thought I would like being invisible for another year, but I feel like this time might be different.
"Lola. That's a really nice name! Do you want to have lunch today with me? I can introduce you to my friends, since you're new?"
"Yeah sure, that sounds great!" After that short conversation, the teacher comes in and demands complete silence. She must have PMS. No one can be that grumpy.
The hour goes by rather quickly and it's time for french. I think this is going to be my new favorite subject. I liked everything about it yesterday, except the incident with the tattooed weirdo.
Just like yesterday, the classroom is empty when I get there. Or almost. At the front of the class is a cheerful figure seated. His tattoos is showing through the white t-shirt and his hair is today pushed back with a bandana. He has taken his "normal" seat that I accidentally took yesterday.Well I'm not gonna sit in the back just because he's got a bad mood. I walk towards the front and stop right next to him. He looks up with a question mark on his face.
"Do you mind if I sit here? Or are you going to walk away again if I sit close to you?" I say with confidence.
"No" He says with a monotone voice. I feel brave and so I continue the "conversation".
"You are not a too big fan of talking are you?" Even though he is strange, I can't help but feeling a bit interested in him.
"No" He says again, but this time I can hear some amusement in his voice.
"Surprise!" I burst out and this time, a smile actually forms on his lips. It is very difficult to not take notes of the dimples popping on his face. He is beautiful. Wait! What!? That's not creepy at all.
The teacher comes into the room when all the students have found a place to sit.
"Okay people. Today we're going to start the group project I've been planning for you. You will work in pairs that I have picked out for you." As he says the last part everyone starts groaning. I don't mind him picking the pairs. I actually prefer it since I don't have any friends in this class.
"Tommy and Nick. Michael, you will work with Sally when she is back. Finn will work with Paige. Lola and Harry and then Oscar and Bea. Find your partner now and begin by telling a little something about yourselves to your partner in french. On commence!"
"Harry, who's Harry?" I whisper to myself, but evidently loud enough for the curly guy next to me to hear, because after a few seconds he answers,
"That would be me." He does not look like a Harry. He looks so badass and Harry sounds so goodie goodie.
"Oh, hi then Harry. Nice to meet you." I say to him, and to my surprise he replies this time. "Hey Lola. Nice to meet you too." For the rest of the class we talk about very random things, but in english and the teacher told us off about 22 times. We just laughed at him. It turns out that Harry is not all that bad after all.
At lunch I sat with Sally's friends, but Sally is apparently ill so she wasn't there. I have not been in this school long enough to get a hang of the groups and clicks, but when Harry walked by our table he looked at me like he was disappointed and my "friends" begun to whisper as he walked by.
When the classes for today are over I walk out of the school and towards the parking lot. I am in my own little world until someone suddenly brings me out.
"So you drive?" The voice is familiar and when I look up I spot the tattooed boy from french class. Harry.
"Yes, I do" I simply respond. I don't really understand the question.
"Did you drive all the way from America this morning?" He asks with a playful grin.
"Oh yes. I live in Boston, but I drive here every morning. It works fine, the traffic is not too bad, but the early hours are killing me." I say like I actually do drive to England every morning. He gives away a laugh, a genuine one actually. It was cute.
All of a sudden Paul approaches us. Paul is one of my so called "friends" now. He is not at all my type, but he has been hanging after me like a puppy all day.
"Yo, Lola!" he shouts from the opposite side of my car.
"Why are you talking to that trash?" He asks and looks at Harry. I get slightly annoyed. What does he mean "trash"? Harry is much more fun than any of the guys in his friendzone.
"Fuck off" Harry says. The smile on his face is long gone and the laughter that recently filled the air is now no where to be found. He gives me one last glance and walks away when Paul puts his arm around me. Yuck!
"Why did you say that?" I ask Paul.
"Lola, you shouldn't be talking to him. His kind is not good. It's just trouble" His arm is still around me, but instead of on my shoulders, he is now holding my waist. It is extremely uncomfortable and awkward.
"You know what? The time is just flying. I really have to go and pick up my lil sis. Bye." I lie. Dora walked home an hour ago.
"Oh, okay. Be careful. See you tomorrow babe!" Babe?! What the flying fuck? Can't the man take a hint. I. DON'T. LIKE. YOU!
Poor Harry.
