I was preoccupied during the whole ride. I don't know what to say because of the sudden feeling that I felt when I saw River. It's not that I haven't moved on yet, I am just not ready to see him I guess?
But what for?
"Thanks again for today, Pierre. Magkita nalang tayo sa Lunes." I did not move an inch, I did not even gave her a glance. I just stare what shit in front of me and then she went out of the car, but even before she close the door she speak again. "Alam kong matagal na nang huli kayong nagkita at marami nang nagbago. I just hope that you're okay.... that we're still okay." Then she closed the door.
Napunta muli ako sa realidad dahil sa sinabi niya. Bakit nga ba naging ganito ang reaksyon ko gayong tapos na ako sa kaniya, na nakalimutan ko na ang lahat ng nararamdaman ko. I immediately walked out of my car and follow her as she's now opening their gate.
"I'm sorry, Tham. I don't know why I did that."
"It's okay, Pierre. Naiintindihan ko. Sa susunod na nalang din tayo magkape." Then she smiled. "Message me when get home, okay?"
"Okay, Tham. See you on Monday."
The whole Saturday turned out fine. I just let myself be at rest without minding anything after I got home from Leon's birthday.
It is already nine of Sunday evening when I decided to go out to buy some foods outside. Tinatamad akong magluto dito sa apartment at para na rin hindi na ako maghugas pa ng pinggan. I am on my way in opening door with just my hoodie at boxer shirts and keys on my other hand when I heard a knock. Wala sa oras ang katok at kahit kailan ay walang pumupunta ng ganitong oras sa apartment ko nang walang pasabi.
"Sino 'yan?" Tanong ko sa tao sa kabilang dako ng pintuan nang puno ng otoridad.
"It's River, Pierre." Marahang bigkas nito.
I shouldn't be anxious about this. Hindi ko alam kung darating ba ang araw na ganito pero ngayong nandito na siguro ay haharapin ko nalang. Wala na akong magagawa.
"What?" I irritatedly asked. That's what you get for ghosting me. Marami pa ang susunod, River. Huamanda ka.
"Brought some foods dahil baka gutom ka." At itinaas niya ang hawak niya. "Aalis ka ba?"
"I don't need that. I can buy my own." I replied. "And yes, I am going out. Tumabi ka sa daraanan ko."
"Paano 'yung mga nagugutom? 'Yung mga walang makain? Sayang naman ito kung gano'n."
"E di ibigay mo sa kanila." Then I walked passed at him. I open the gate and went inside my car. Matapos kong mailabas ang sasakyan ay lumabas ako rito para isarado ang gate. Nakita ko itong nakatayo pa rin sa harapan ng pintuan at nakatingin sa'kin.
"I'll wait for you here."
"Don't bother. I am not going home so, get out of my apartment. You're wasting my time." Napangiwi ito at lumbas na ng gate pero hindi pa rin siya sumakay sa sasakyan niya na nasa malapit at nanatili lang itong nakatingin sa'kin.
"Pupuntahan mo 'yung girlfriend mo? I'll wait here, Pierre." Tanong niya.
"Why do you care?" I said after locking the gate. "Kaano-ano ba kita para tanungin mo ako nang ganiyan? As far as I can remember that there's nothing really happened between us. Mind helping me remember 'cause it's been twelve years, River."
"Sorry."
"At paano mo nalaman 'yung bahay ko?"
"Through Chloe and twins. I went in their company earlier."
